I think he played well until Gustavo went off and the teams whole tempo dropped

I think he's not had a bad game here... Im not even his biggest fan but I think the reason the game slipped away from is more down to fitness than any individual in the end

Shipley played much better today, than he did in his last two games.

He is from our academy which means most fans thinks he’s one of the best in the world. Not a chance he is of the quality required for this division

If I’m honest he was playing well however he was definitely not fit enough and he didn’t even start it’s gonna take time and we’re just gonna have to accept that we may not see the best version of us until October

We lost and the first thing you do is start a thread about Shipley, why?

Last week he was turd, no doubt. I did groan when he replaced Kelly but fair play he was decent. But he let his man go for their goal so he's automatically a liability

FFS

he’s clearly not a holding midfielder we all know thT the issue is Kelly is made of glass at times & sheaf deal took so long he wasn’t fit enough to come on at thAt point

He played as well as anyone in the first half, and yes he like the rest of the midfield and wingbacks struggled in the second half. He didn't play that role at all last season, so was in an unfamiliar position. Looking back at the highlights we were definitely zonal marking, so he didn't even lose his man for the goal.

He’s not for that deep role. When he plays in one of the attacking two he gets beyond the strikers pushes defends and scores goals. If Sheaf was fit he wouldn’t have come on for Kelly.

if the sheaf deal got sorted instead of dragged out he would of been fit to come on instead of Shipley

Why the fuck are we slagging off players already. We didn't play badly. Very nfortunate...Shipley did better than thought he would imo.

He won't be first choice this season.

Don't see what your problem is.

He's played League 2 and League 1 and now Championship. On each occasion he has got to the the level required. Did some nice things today, also lost the ball a few times. Not saying he is great, not saying he is shite either. Let's just see if he can adapt to bring a decent Championship player. If he does, ultimately we benefit.

Push Shipley further forward you’ll get a hell of a lot more than you see at CDM we’ve all seen it from him

he’s still better than 10 bags

Shipley has some great attributes. In the AM role his scoring and assist stats are good, he has good passing range and good vision.

He’s not a DM

Does the goal conceded after 20 seconds not have a bearing?. That was fairly criminal really for a professional football team.

I must admit I was worried when he came on as he was poor in that position last week but he surprised me, thought he was pretty decent. Especially in the first half he played really well.

Struggled in the second half because BC had more of the ball and he's not a defensive player.

So the defenders have no responsibility for their first or second goals?

Exactly this. He's doing a job for the team (and he actually played quite well). Shows the slight lack of depth we still have in that position though.

Im surprised Shipley is ahead of Eccles there. Can’t help but feel if that’s the case at this point we should move Eccles on and bring in a proper 4th DM.

Pretty sure it was Hyam's man

Why would Shipley be marking an opposition CB and not Hyam?

First half he looked great on the ball, moved up the pitch well and made a few decent passes. Second half he was poor and looked lethargic but we can't berate him for being played in an uncomfortable position where his weaknesses are bound to be highlighted. He's at his best when played at AM, not DM.

Robins wouldn't have put him on if Sheaf was fitter/more gelled into the first team but he was the only option given how much of the game was left to be played.
