I wonder if Lampard would be tempted to shift Sakamoto inside and use KKH out wide. Keep the same formation and in reality it's only Sakamoto not used to his role. EMC was an unused sub on Wednesday, so could even stick him back on the left and move BTA inside. EMC has only missed 2 weeks so should be fit enough to do his 60 mins role. Not sure we necessarily need a change in formation tomorrow.

Not remotely surprised to see it tomorrow , especially if we only have two fit CMs

To be fair Torp has history of niggly injuries, Eccles is just coming back from a fairly big one. It was naive for people to think they wouldnt be out for a portion of the season.

The reality is you can’t predict who will be out, for how long, and in what positions.

Every team has injuries long and short term. You need a bit of luck. We have good levels of ability and versatility in our squad.

It’s naive of people to think you can have a squad bigger than 25 senior players. Also loans under the age of 21 count as one of the 25 senior players.

It is what it is unless you are a Premier League top dog with an Academy overflowing with under 21 talent.

You can a bit. Injuries is going to be a product of number of explosive sprints and general distance run. Your forwards and full backs and box to box mids are going to be most affected. That’s why people said we needed at least one if not two forwards in. Ideally we’d be subbing 2-3 off on 70 mins most games to minimise injury risk a freshness at the tail end of the season.

You still need versatility in the squad with players who can cover different positions. Fans might not like it but managers know it is essential. Two in each position is 22 the max squad of senior players is 25. That gives you 3 spare. It is very feasible that your two first choice right fullbacks for example are injured at the same time. So where do you go from there. Players who give you flexibility are key. Squad depth comes from that flexibility within the squad and not necessarily numbers.

Whatever team we put out we’ll still have enough to beat these, might struggle against the better teams but confident of a good win, looks a lovely day for it

We had more than enough to beat Bolton but didn’t. Teams can show tremendous resilience when they are backed into a corner.

Sheffield Wednesday may be near the bottom but have picked up some decent results. This is a tough fixture. The crowd will be vociferous and we will need to be at our best over the full 90 minutes.

Shit weather. Real leveller.
Not sure we can keep our high pressure press when we are knackered.
Injuries a worry especially if EMC is not 100%, Torp and Eccles are out.
Wednesday have really surprised me, I thought they would be getting results like Sheff Utd.
Shame we are playing them before their injuries and suspensions kick in when they are playing with a siege mentality.

Id like to know how you would feel about that if people were? It's not like you've made your feelings know about this subject in previous posts.

And fuck no, I wouldn't settle for a draw.

Bookies have us long odds on favourites tomorrow, they don't usually get it wrong too often
We should have more than enough for these , squad is confident and firing now it's time to see how Frank adapts to a few injury niggles .
Think 3-0 win

Only problem is it can stifle Grimes ability to drop into his quarterback role .
Can see 4 atb with KKH right side and Sakamoto as the 10

Chose to do overtime tomorrow morning, meaning I’d obviously not get to the game. The company we were doing the job for has now pulled out. Shitehawks. Suppose it’s £35 better in my pocket, but they are gits.

I’d have 100% bought food and drink in the ground as well.

Is the reason weather related by any chance?

Nah mate. We couldn’t get the job done fast enough for them so they’ve gone elsewhere. Couldn’t be avoided in the end, with tacho hours etc.. The two of us who were the only ones up for it can’t legally do every Saturday. Its a big job that needed several visits, the last one being the morning of the Oxford game.

I think I'd be disappointed to be honest

Although this was always going to be a far tougher test than Millwall who are proper shite.

The conditions arnt brilliant either so im going 2-0 city

Robins tinkered with Sakamoto in central midfield iirc. Not a success. He has the skills but possible not the perception

I'm feeling weirdly nervous about today, particularly if both Torp and Eccles are missing, hopefully we can grind this one out.
Edgy 2-1 win.

Start quick.. get an early goal and they protest on the pitch.. conversely if they start quick and get an early goal.. not a single fan will enter that pitch

The nervousness will start growing in the fanbase anyway, at some point we’ll lose. What’s important is how we react.

Gonna be edgy, protest will cause disruption, as will the wind and our injuries. I actually think it's a real test today and won't be easy to play our football at all. Wednesday have surprised a few, Bolton away vibe to it

I'd be extremely disappointed with anything less than 3 points.

You know, going in to back to back away games id of been happy with 4 points. But after playing pretty average and still turning over Millwall 4-0. A place we've struggled to get results at in the past. Id be dissapointed with anything less than 3 points today. If we want to be in the autos, we can't struggle against these teams like we did last season. We need to find ways to win. We need plan b and plan c for when plan a doesnt work. Im saying 2-0. Nothing less!

Would saka be a 10 or out in right wing in this formation?

I have never had a problem with 5 at back when posters on here tried to argue it was a thing of the past loool

But felt like we attacked less when we switched to it Vs Millwall so may take us a bit of time to adjust to it perhaps.

But still optimistic of a decent result

Not 5 at the back (3 clean sheets with 4), 5 in a packed midfield would be my vote, but I know nothing...

On the right.

I'd like us to keep to a back 4 at home, but can understand a back 5 with the situation at CM

Last time I went a couple of years ago the Railway on A61 was away fans, there were plenty of City in there if that helps. 10 min walk from ground.

Yeah needs must and it's still a decent 11. Only question mark would be if we get a good Allen or out of depth Allen performance
