Another thing showing how far we've come, we've got nearly as many new STH's as we had full home attendances in League 2.

And that will be another interesting scenario. Not sure what the away allowance will be but if it is 4000 it leaves just over 28000 for home fans, the South stand might need looking at again.

Which is exactly my point about communication. Some people can't take a day off to go down to the ticket office to sort it or ask.

If it's 2 adults per child then it should work as expected with networks so people can buy seats together. That's the whole idea of the network stuff.

It would take them less than ten minutes to post an article.
The sale was probably rushed because fans were getting tetchy about the season tickets not being on sale.

In a single booking, I can see the immediate issues with booking 4 adults to 2 tickets when the offer very clearly states 2:2. That was communicated clearly.

If it was done over 2 bookings, 2 adults and a child would be fine. This stuff probably should been organised in advance with a bit of due diligence.

You’re not going to please everyone, regardless of what you do or don’t do, people will miss out. The FZ were always going to be the most in-demand tickets outside of the exclusive PL package sale.

But, and it’s a big but…the home fan allocation is restricted. Someone posted the figures a few days ago.

I've no dog in the fight here, given I'm not trying to buy a ST.

However, it's always seemed obvious to me that if you're running a business based on customer goodwill and discretionary spend (which is most businesses), you do everything in your power to keep your customers happy and meet their needs.

Not for the first time, it sounds like the club aren't quite doing that here.

Many will tolerate inconvenience given the nature of football supporters, but some can't or won't, and that's not good for the bottom line. I hope they're listening to the concerns people are raising here, they sound legitimate to me.

the figures don’t lie, it has been a big success so far, and looks like we will comfortably beat lay years total.

I don’t see how anyone can argue that it hasn’t been great for the club already. Crap for some people with the poor communication, that’s for sure, but King has done a very good job in achieving what he set out to do.

Maybe not, but it does mean there will be people that won't now be buying tickets if they take their kids because the cost is too high elsewhere in the stadium. FZ sold quickly, so we'll now have to see if that continues.

There are aspects of the plan I don't agree with, such as allowing additional adults for a cheaper price, but if the club are going to put in place a policy whereby they're trying to force those with kids to sit in the FZ due to large price differences then if you limit the ability for people to do that don't be surprised if people get upset an you miss out on sales because of it.

I suspect this will be the end of the Doug King love-in, as first of all he made the prices ridiculous so backtracked on that, probably on the agreement that the FZ would be limited in size. It's a clear attempt to fleece supporters of as much cash as possible.

you say “clear attempt to fleece”, I would say “clear attempt to make the club sustainable and competitive in a very tough league”, and that’s ok by me.

I’m more alluding to our previous owners who stated that If we turn up there would be funds available. They promptly opted to sell our centre back last season.

my thoughts on Doug are reserved until August 31st to see if he’s actually any different.

he’s put funds into Ryton, but if he’s serious about 3 play off appearances in 5 seasons. He’s got to invest in the playing squad

They won’t want to sell STs beyond 13 in case they want to put 6k in there, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it open up for big games if we do hit close to 20k STs.

Great news - worry is that only 6k have renewed from 13.5k at this stage...

Some will be fans that are "new" as they were using a kids season tickets in previous years and due to checks being put into place they've gone legit.....some will be sorted end of month for pay day too

My only moan abuo the pricing is for the young kids (under 8's as an example) - very unlikely to do the midweek games, potential to miss a game or 2 during school holidays if away. £125 for 19 games (average). I've got a 4 year old I was going to get a season ticket for and start to take him up to some games next season (I don't sit in the Family zone as want to be with my mates) so think this is the only option they've missed out on imo. he'll be on my shoulders going in with me next season for free !!

I think some kind of reduced number of games tickets for U10s or something is worthwhile. I’ve not renewed my 8 year olds because she’s far less likely to attend than the 13 year old so it’s not worth it. I’d have probably dropped £50 or so to basically reserve her a seat for the half games she might go to and remove the hassle of moving if I want to take her.

A lot of people will be waiting for payday at the end of the month.

If, and it’s a big if at this stage, we can get everyone to renew, we’ll be looking at 19k as the absolute lowest gate next year. We should average around 23k.

This is how you grow a football club

It was only by reading this thread this morning that I realised I could actually renew mine today by clicking on the link in my account and changing the Premier ticket to a standard one. I am sure I wasn’t the only one who didn’t/doesn’t know that.

Now renewed.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't double that, given the size of clubs in the division. Rotherham, Huddersfield and perhaps Swansea (due to distance), aside - we now have more teams with seriously large fan bases. I think away averages will be over 2k.

The 6 new clubs will all bring decent numbers. Plymouth travel well despite the distances.

I’m struggling to think which teams brought less than 1k this year. Wigan, Reading, maybe Blackburn?

If it's crap for some people and you're potentially losing sales, then it's not really "great" even if the overall numbers are rising. I can't understand why anyone would struggle to see that.

What are the figures for retention and abandoned sales? How many people had to deal direct with the ticket office to resolve what should have been a straightforward process (an obvious admin cost for the business).

It's entirely fair for people to outline the problems they've had, imho. Everyone is happy to see the season tickets flying out, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't discuss the obvious issues that some have had.

nobody said it was wrong for people to outline the problems they’ve had, but even so the figures show that this has worked. Some will have dropped away but to be honest that means very little compared to 4,000 new season ticket holders. All these masses of lost sales and disgusted people have clearly not materialised.
