Figured the club would need it for the Mario Balotelli funds

85% of ST holders didn't ask for a refund! Remarkable.

NEWS: Sky Blues thank the 85% of Season Ticket holders who did not request refunds

Around 85% of Coventry City Season Ticket holders did not request a refund for the cancelled fixtures at the end of 2019/20 – and we would like to say a big THANK YOU to those supporters!

Richest person on the forum. Let's get the virtual stocks out and pelt you with virtual tomatoes! Edit: unless you donated it to MMJs ST donation fund, in which case replace tomatoes with marshmallows.

Id be quite interested how much awareness people had of the refund closure date. If the club had returned I may have looked more sympathetically but to be I think the owners of both sides have not behaved acceptably

I get your point. I think also that the take up would have been much higher had we not had the feelgood factor surrounding promotion. Haven't seen how other clubs have handled it, but can understand why a lot will have been torn in the current climate, both football clubs and individuals.

I'm sure the low number wanting refunds was largely due to our good season with people thinking they got their moneys' worth from the games that were played. I am sure if we had finished in the bottom half that far more would have been wanting a refund.

Im a season ticket holder and I had multiple emails about the rand and cut off date, including one just a few days before. Was also on their website and all social media channels wasn't it.

I had one email and that was on the day it was announced (sandwiched between the news stories about O'Hare and Hilssner signing.

A lot of older season ticket holders probably have no idea what was happening. If it had been an automatic refund but you could email to let the club keep it the figure would have been much much lower.

Would be interesting to know how many EFL clubs have given automatic refunds.

And the season tickets were not as low as £260 to start with
I think we got 17 games for the £260 - just over £15 a game for a title winning team aint bad!

So what would you have had them do? And how does receiving your refund help to achieve it....

Fair play to anyone who chose a refund because they could do with the money. Odd stance to do it out of spite because they couldn't magic us a solution to play in the city given the opposition they face...

It’s hardly spite. I didn’t get a refund when they had orange ken thorn et al all of which led to a miserable season. Years of failure deserves no reward from long suffering supporters

G - surely you must have enjoyed everything since the L2 relegation, There has been a change in direction, and yes, or owners deserve huge criticism for past mistakes, However, they have supported MR ever since relegation to L2. I've not enjoyed the on the pitch stuff so much since the Ferguson/Wallace era and the Sexton team ('87 aside). Seems an odd time to cock a snoot, unless you are being contrary just for the sake of it?

So are you going to answer or not - what would you have them do?

Feels like you just like to take the unpopular opinion rather than actually sticking up for a particular viewpoint. You assess the crowd - see what’s unpopular, then go for it.

Shame.

I don’t know how unpopular the opinion is.

As to what would they do no one knows what conversations happened anyway. I suspect as ever neither side wanted to do a deal. Sisu have form for this sort of thing. Tough it out and see what happens.

Seppalla has no interest in the club other than an investment model. I’ve seen nothing to convince me any new ground is being built - the mechanism for funding I can’t see existing at all. It’s the vaguest of vague statements

They have got slightly lucky as the club out performed expectations last season but if they hadn’t and we were mid table the strategy would look pretty desperate then wouldn’t it?

I doubt either of these organisations want to deal. Wasps know letting the club in could cause problems - especially if their finances go down the pan - and Sisu still have some clumsy half baked scheme to drag out litigation as long as possible to try and starve them out

it’s a tiresome feud and supporters are collateral damage - there’s no plan I see yet to convince me the club can stay in business by continuing to play every game away so I really don’t see why they deserve rewarding. It will be very interesting to see how much of the extra revenue they extract to pay done more interest deferral

So, if they have a good plan, we support them, and if not, we shouldn't support them ? More particularly, if we think that the club is likely to go out of business, supporters shouldn't help them out?! Even when you are being mischievous, you often han have sound argumments, but this really isn't one that stacks up.

Edit: If you were a dispassionate outsider, I'd agree with your viewpoint, but if you are an 'invested' supporter who follows the club, then - for me - it's totally different.

I hope the money donated from the season tickets went towards keeping the operational staff in a job? not heard of any redundancies unlike bloody Arsenal.

To be fair, wherever the unclaimed refunds balance goes, it will at least ease some of the obvious cash flow pressure that the club will have incurred. It may be that at some point redundancies still have to be made - one thing is for certain, if we were still at The Ricoh, our cost base would have been higher and the pressure even greater. That balance will obviously shift once fans are 'fully' allowed back into grounds. Before then, we in a better position than most.

If we were at the Ricoh I doubt the cost base would be much different - and the club would not be there even if it was normal so would have not had revenue as a priority

Also I’m pretty sure Seppalla will be extracting her interest payments again

This is not the same as say a Hereford or Brighton though is it where the club was going under due to actions beyond control. This is a targeted strategy.

Sisu would have put the club in Burton if that Was the only option. They are clearly getting backed into a corner, they have no realistic plan and relying on fans goodwill when they have some culpability and have contributed to this mess will not wash I’m afraid
