We have been very clinical in our 2 wins could argue scoreline flattered us vs Newcastle and Sunderland. With xg less than 1.

One thing good we are doing is we are not gifting teams easy goals. No mistakes at the back is helping not playing tippy tappy and getting the ball up the other end of the pitch quickly has helped. I'm not bothered about possesion stats as we can be very effective without the ball too.

In fact we have looked most vulnerable in counter attack from our own corners or throw ins in attacking positions.

XG can fuck off. We completely controlled the game v Sunderland.

We did look too open v Newcastle though, 4-1 definitely flattered us.

I was shocked at how good Fulham were against Villa compared to us. They could have easily scored 4 or 5 whereas against us they hardly looked like scoring apart from the one they did which was good skill but rubbish defending. I don't know if it was the win over us that gave them extra confidence or that Villa were very poor on the night. I think they did show how to play against Villa with 2 very wide men as their full backs are not great defending.
With us sat back there weren't many holes / space for Fulham to exploit against us. Villa was a bit more of an open game. You're right, they played very well at Villa and should have won the game. Keeps their good form going.

In my opinion Fulham will not go down. They're adapting to Arebeloa's possession style of play and have a nice blend of quality in that starting 11. Good mix of younger players and experience, comfortable on the ball.

The odds are down to where the punter's money is going. We were a bit of a PL meme after the first 4 games and the shit thrown at us stuck a bit. 3 more points out of the next 2 and the concensus of us being the whipping boys should start to change.

I think the tide will turn with regards us being the league whipping boys once we go above Ipswich and Hull (which could happen this weekend if we win and they both lose). People will start to see the losses for what they are with a little more context.

So far, we've lost to the top 3 (as has nearly everyone who has played them) and a couple of fine margin losses to Hull and Fulham that could easily have been draws.

Even the Spurs loss looks less damning now they have won 3 on the bounce.
