So you think certain people who commit heinous crimes are capable of re introducing into society

Who - Mr Pitchfork (clearly not) Mr Huntley (interestingly Mr Huntley was one juror away from a hung jury as they believed this evil killer) Ms Domaghue Mr Moore? The list goes on

We heard this week of the harrowing story of a dog Walker mauled by dogs. I’ll be honest the dog Walker was greedy and stupid and the dog owners negligent in allowing her to control 7 dogs of different sizes and character. These dogs deserve to have another chance - they won’t - but they are less a threat than this monster who should just be put down

Think there are probably 200 people who’ve received sentences like Brady and that seems about right. They don’t deserve freedom but they under our societies rules deserve fair and humane treatment

People don’t choose to be black or a woman Nick.

All professions attract “types”, the Police obviously gets more than its fair share of not too bright power hungry wankers.

There's a very easy answer and whilst you're entitled to want to continue to see the good in people, some are simply cunts.

If you consider that the death penalty for nonces, serial rapists and murderers is murder then we're on completely different pages.

We are. It doesn’t stop us respectfully discussing something. What do you mean nonce? Serial rapists get sentenced to significant sentences and murderers too but we’ve decided the death penalty reflects badly on the rest of us and so haven’t pursued this as a punishment for many many years. Death penalty doesn’t act as a deterrent in the countries where it is still allowed so don’t see what the reason would be to use it. Maybe saving a few million would be a reason I supposed and it’s an opinion one of which I think is abhorrent

Teacher bans for sexual misconduct jump to five-year high amid calls for tougher scrutiny

Figures released to i show 35 teachers were handed prohibition orders over sexual misconduct allegations in the year to March 2022, up from six the previous year
inews.co.uk

35 is the shocking number. 0.005% of teachers. Or 1 in 20,000.

Wow!
Read up on cat b prisons and the people that are imprisoned there
Do I condone their actions no way
Do I think that it’s right to consider what happens on their release? Should bloody hope so cause otherwise what’s the point we may as well shoot them when they’ve been found guilty and sod the consequences
You really can be the most arrogant prick when you want to be

Would those up for the death penalty support whippings for lesser crimes? Maybe the odd amputation?

There’d have to be some levels wouldn’t there and I think many would until it was a member of their family or friends found guilty or were wrongly accused and found guilty or just truly fucked up for no reason other than that’s what we sometimes do as human beings

Maybe lose a hand for stealing
If you are suggesting the death penalty for someone looking at under age porn then you are going to need to up the stakes for a rapist maybe taking out organs while they’re still alive so they bleed to death

I don’t think animals are humans. I eat meat for a start. You probably wouldn’t like my views. We’ve got increasing evidence of plant intelligence, go too far down this path and none of us can eat.

If you want to set up a dog prison and rehabilitation centre then crack on, you have my full support.

Instead of blathering answer the actual question and if it’s a choice of living in a society or dead I’d rather him dead

Of course they have a soul - if Mr Huntley asks for redemption he’s off to eternal heaven and joy whereas the victims of the crime unless they declare themselves a believer are condemned to eternal hell

that’s god for you

Who is Mr Mcready?

Generally if someone is still a danger I’d like them kept in prison, yes. Who wouldn’t?

he cut childrens heads off and stuck them on iron pailings so the mother could see them when she came home

He’s as Pete would say found his humanity - he’s found redemption and is a free man - he could be your next door neighbour - who knows

Well Pete volunteers in prison and clearly talks to offenders, which sounds like valid input to the discussion, even if you disagree with what he says. I’m sure we could just run the prison system in keeping with the values of whichever awful serial killer you’ve been reading about on Wikipedia this week instead, but I’m not sure it’s going to make for the most productive debate.

I have no problem with people with people eating meat. It’s a reality if life in the same way people drive cars that contributes to pollution

I would also accept a dog that had ripped three babies heads off should be put down. I’d probably blame the owner but would accept they die. I suspect if your children are all dead and a human had ripped their heads off you’d not me overly happy they’ve found humanity and once again prowl the streets

Don’t believe in the death penalty, although that’s mainly because I don’t see it as a punishment. It’s an easy way out. I believe that most criminals deserve a chance at redemption and turning their lives round after serving their time.

However, some crimes (pre-mediated murder/serial murder, noncing, rape) require a level of deviancy that I don’t believe can safely be (or should be) rehabilitated. Whole ilife sentence in the most very basic conditions. Yes it costs but I’d pay more tax in return for noncing to be a full life term at the first offence. The mind boggles that someome with a sexual interest in children can escape jail or be given a short sentence. Even if it’s viewing sick websites it’s a precursor to worse… just lock them up forever.

As for the old bill. I’ve had good and bad experiences. Got a right kicking in the street when I was pinched for fighting in my early twenties (deserved it to be fair) but a really decent detective looked after me and a few mates when the CPS brought charges following a serious assault. He was genuinely upset when the gang got suspended sentences. My Nan’s sister‘s husband is a retired copper and is a right racist twat.

A rape for a rape?

Depends on the crime doesn’t it? Previous offending history, behaviour in jail, etc. We can predict reoffending pretty well.

What about someone who financially ruins someone with fraud?

I can’t believe someone guilty of that crime would be let out but the parole board do a really good job as do many of those involved in the justice system, not everyone or everything of course
