I think we're all descending into idiocy to justify losing to Burton.
Simple really: they are a better TEAM than us. We are a top 6 side, as it stands, which in itself is still encouraging. So let's quit trying to make every player in our squad the scapegoat for a naive and bungling loss to the top team in the league. Next it'll be Finch, wherever he may be.
To give Joe Cole the captain's armband would be preposterous. Sam Ricketts is an example of a player who leads through experience and strength. Just because he's not screaming his lungs out doesn't make him unsuitable.
Jesus, I really am sick to fucking death of this mass hysteria based on a naive defeat to Burton. Granted, we're not top 2 material at the minute, but let's be realistic and pragmatic, yeah?
Next we'll have the official lynching thread for Aaron Phillips...I have big stick we could whack him with, btw.
I agree with you on the bulk part of that...
I'm not trying to pick fault in a defeat against a top of the league very well organised team, was more what I've observed over the last few months.
We're sat nicely in 4th, played our best football in years, even been top for a spell. But as I've said as a player I've not questioned his ability in his favoured position.
Since gillingham game we've gone off the boil a little and it's mostly due to our injury ravaged defence or poor refereeing and bad luck. That's football.... Plus were a team of mostly kids.
My point was as a captain he seems very quiet, don't seem to talk a lot on the pitch. I'm not after the shouty type, far from it. Also was not saying joe Cole should be it. Yes ricketts is ever present, maybe a father figure and have a stature, a presence around the training ground. Yes he is captain of a team sat in the play offs, top for a while. For me he should offer more, rallying his team in a positive way. Not screaming.
The game is lost drawn and won on the pitch after all.
