Just turned 19 years old what’s everyone’s thoughts on young McCallum ? Have to say I think he’s come on well this season although I have a feeling he’s being put into the shop window at present,Robins knows there has been interest wouldn’t be surprised if he goes in January with another good sell on clause & maybe a striker coming our way on loan etc if possible.

As far as potential goes I have him up there with Bayliss for sure he’s tall, fast & has that long throw on him can see him playing well above league 1 level for sure.

He looks okay yeah great prospect, just not sure why Mason isn't getting a look in as he's the better fullback.... can only assume its because Robins is putting McCallum in the shop window

My thoughts exactly. As soon as Mason was dropped it had me asking questions. Mason was arguably our best player up until he was dropped. All was around the time that ‘big’ clubs we’re linked with him. More than a coincidence imo

He has come on superbly; far more comfortable on the ball than last season, not getting bullied in tackle, winning defensive headers both on 1v1 with winger and at near post for corners. He also is more confident getting forward supporting the attack (and seems to thrive in wing back role...I still think he would make a decent midfield player). I also think he needs to read the game a bit better; sometimes let’s winger react half a second quicker. He also gets beaten by genuine pace.
Last season I thought with the right development he would make championship level. Now I’m hoping that once he ‘becomes a man’ he could end up getting to the premiership at a mid level side. At 19 he has potential to go all the way. Just hope we keep him this season and next before he moves up the ladder.

He didn't get dropped, he got injured.

Good to see another first post trying to get people worked up though.
Mason was on the bench the first time McCallum was brought in. Mason was on the bench and came on for him. Was against Tranmere I believe. He got injured after that

He got injured against Watford.
that was way back in August though. Mason came back in and started all the games after (apart from Forest Green) and was then dropped to the bench against Tranmere. Since then, Mason hasn’t had a sniff. Going back to what I said earlier, all this was around the time the telegraph reported that Leeds etc was interested

Watford game he got injured I don’t think many will argue McCallum hasn’t been worthy of the shirt in his place ?

I assume mason must like posts on social media. Very grimmer esque this whole love in. Mason lost his place through illness i beleive and mccallum took his chance. Dont see why conspiracy theories are needed

Improving steadily and is a genuine fight for the spot with Mason, who has also improved massively.

There may be one eye on potential bidders in Jan for him, so playing him now will up his value with MR knowing he's got a more than capable left back waiting to come back in.

Mason had a new contract around that time also,we know there is interest in McCallum playing him will up his price if he goes in Jan especially if he’s playing well which he is...I’m just saying don’t be shocked if he goes in jan to fund a promotion push.

Clearly he has interest he is a good player. But to say he is only playing for that reason is bollocks

Mason recently signed a new deal so he's seen as a long term team player. Mccallum also signed a new deal recently (end of last season I think) so that gives us financial security on him. I think he's done really well and will continue to feature until his form drops. I also think a bit like Bapaga, MR by playing him is saying, hey don't go anywhere you're gonna get a pathway here.

Conspiracy in both directions in here. McCallum only playing so he is in the shop window and Mason only liked because he likes stuff on social media and even that’s a guess.

Wednesday.

It’s all because the earth is flat.

Tbh McCullum is in the team for the same reason as he would be at most clubs - he'd been outstanding in training
He's a real athlete with a good attitude and decent pace
But like all young players needs to be playing men's football if he's going to realise his potential

I think we are lucky to have 2 very good leftbacks on our books,
I’m sure one will end up going to a higher level club pretty soon, I just hope we get well compensated.

If only our scouting network worked as well for strikers as it does for defenders!

You'd think if you were going to come on shit stirring from the off you'd do a bit of research and get your facts right.

I was never big on conspiracy theories, but the old Blair Adam's 49 game thing is always in the back of my mind, so I now believe them all.

Good player, great potential but I think Mason is better at this moment. If we sell him for a good fee and a good sell on clause I’d be content.

personally think Mcallum will go far in the game looks to be a good attacking fullback maybe could do with some improvement defensively but he is very good in the air I’ve noticed. On the other hand Mason was our best player first 4 games and I still feel he deserves to start. Very good to have two good young left backs fighting for the shirt.

He's a good player and clearly got quality but "athlete" I just don't see. He's blowing after 60 minutes every game and is certainly not quick.

Playing really well and keeping Mason out of the side who started the season like a house on fire. It's my opinion that Robins changed it slightly after the Tranmere game, Dabo and Mason were playing really high up the pitch and we had conceded a couple of goals on the break, McCallum initially is not starting so high up the pitch.

Mason has been great this season. But I think McCallum is better suited to LWB in the 532 formation.

I’m not McCallum’s biggest fan but I do tend to agree he offers a bit more than Mason as a wing back and the cover hides his defensive frailties

At the MOTM presentation my mother said what a lovely well spoken young man he was.

If you read this, well done Sam.
At Wycombe away, it must have been one of his first games, and he came on as a sub with maybe 10 minutes to go. At the fulltime whistle he ran over to celebrate with (I assume) his family who were right near us in the away end, and everything about him oozed 'Normal lad who is living his dream'. He might have only touched the ball once or twice in that time but you could see it meant the world to him and his family. Was a nice touch.
