the amount of over reaction to this news is akin to when we draw a league one game.

Not everyone has overreacted, just a couple of people and it is not indicative of the wider fan base.

Transfers are handled by Robins, the recruitment team and the management. It's their call. Wasn't necessarily aimed at you but all the bitching about Sisu on Twitter every time we sell a player is ridiculous.

Peterborough have lost Marcus Maddison
Oxford have lost Baptiste & Fosu
Etc
Etc

Every team at this level has to operate this way. It's not always because they want to but players and agents hold a lot of power.

It's a fair point and I agree, it's tiresome the amount of bitching that goes on and I contributed to that this time round. I didn't think my post was all that bad. I didn't hide my dislike for SISU and told a player that is leaving to f*ck off on an internet message board.

A case of pot / kettle but some need to chill out.

I understand we are a selling club, and all things considered, if the rumored figure of 3.5m is true then this is an excellent piece of business, I just wished we could hang on to some of these better players for a couple of seasons longer. This would help advance the team in the league and the players would command a higher fee when they went.

Phil Babb was another one. I remember being gutted when we sold him to liverpool. I was then fuming that we wasted the money we got for him on Dion Dublin!

Would Bigi, Stevenson, Thomas or Cian Harris have commanded better fees in two years after we sold them?

But that isn't how it works. Clubs will try and buy early as the fees are lower which makes the 99% of players who don't kick on more of an acceptable risk

I don't think any of those players looked the prospect that McCallum does.

It hurts to say, but Grenners is right.

I hope McCallum kicks on but there's every chance he stays a league 1 left back.

Harries surprised me as I was sure he would be better they higher the league he played in

Harries looked a real prospect. I thought he’d broken into the Swansea first team...a quick wiki check tells me not. He’s still got time.

Thomas was top scorer and looked good in an awful team. Bigi looked good at a higher level

Not how football works. Name 1 league one club that has the ability to torn down bids of that size?

Every player sold attracts the same general opinion of asset stripping. Clarke Harris is likely to go for over £1m today which is poor business on our part as we gave him away yet oddly this will get no negativity

He'd probably have been better staying at our level. Big moves aren't always right. Norwich have a record of handling these young prospects well so think it's a good move for him.

I'd have said Sunderland but they look like they'll be up shit creek soon if they don't get promoted.

With the exception of Sunderland none, that's why they generally stay or return to league 1.

They have mortgaged their stadium on an unsecured loan

Sunderland had to take an unsecured loan of £10m just to stay in existence they are a basket case

If they've mortgaged it is it not secured against the stadium? Not doubting it, just hadn't seen that story. With what some of their players have been earning they must be hemorrhaging money despite the parachute payments, which I think end this season don't they?

Not sure of that. Maddison is a local lad and came through our academy. They tend to get given more leeway.

Also McCallum is far from the finished article and can make the odd error/poor pass etc. I don't think it'd take too many for some fans to get on his back and see how he deals with it.

Differences are: in Brum we've largely got a 'hardcore' support who are probably less likely to do so compared to the more casual fans we'd also get at the Ricoh and we've got a ready made replacement in Mason to come in should it happen. Plus McCallum seems more level headed than Maddison, but that doesn't mean to say he won't have one eye on being at Norwich which may affect his concentration.

How can you have an unsecured mortgage? Surely that’s a contradiction.

Assuming they get relegated, I can see him being a starter for them next year. Thinking about it, It’s almost like they’re planning for relegation, which is actually no bad thing for them. A well run club.

Perhaps unsecured was the wrong word. They have taken a £10 million loan out and if they don’t pay it off this season they lose the stadium to the creditor - it’s a bizarre arrangement

If we've got £3-3.5m before add-ons etc that is a good price.

Indifferent about the loan back as we have Mason waiting in the wings but what if Mason got injured or struggled to recapture his early season form? as I said above at least if McCallum does seem to have his head elsewhere (although I don't think it will be) it's not vital to our team like Maddison was as we've got a good ready made replacement and in training etc it's squad continuity.

What I was trying to say was they’ve took a loan out that if they don’t pay back they lose absolutely everything even though the loan is 10% of the asset base - their finances are totally fucked
