Can't see MR & AV leaving what they have acheived so far tbh. The team we have is one of the better ones in this league. We are making good steady progress. he is a legend and under no pressure. Stoke just sacked a guy after a handful of games! He would be mad to leave the comfort of his current armchair.

That’s the point isn’t it, he may think he’s achieved all he can here in the current structure and want to take up the opportunity at a more ambitious club. If he fails he’ll be nicely compensated and be able to walk back into a club like us…

Why wouldn’t Viveash step up and takeover ?

Having said that I don’t think Robins will be going anywhere.

Not all coaches want to be managers.

he did it once at Huddersfield and look where that got him? Back with us and what a job he is doing. We have a better chance of promotion than Stoke. people on our forum seem to think our team are mediocre at best. Always putting the team down. We have currently one of the best strikers in the league and one not far behind him. A great number 10 and a solid midfielder who all can change a game. What's not to like? I'm looking forward to a top 6 finish.

I know, with the benefit of hindsight he jumped too soon first time round. Was only a couple of months

Teams are bound to be interested in him , he's done a remarkable job here
But until I hear from the man himself all this bollox is irrelevant

At the time we were a basket case club no one could blame him for going elsewhere.

Considering they finished 2 points behind us last season, would you say we’re a poor side?

I’d say for a side that have consistently spent as heavily as they have since relegation, yes they are a poor side

Why thefuck would Stoke want to pay compensation to get MR when Kenny Jackett’s sat at home watching reruns of Hollyoaks?

Happened with that little weasle at Luton, jumped ship from Luton....joined Stoke...then got his job back at Luton.

Probably made more in his 6 months or so at Stoke as a failure than he has in 6 years at Luton in 2 stints.

That premier league Stoke side we beat in FA Cup when we were league 2. Jeez they were bad.

When a manager has spoke to another club like that I don’t usually see a way back

Seem to remember Steve Clarke was manager of Reading a few years ago, he spoke to Fulham and he didn’t get the job and Reading got rid anyway

Mark Hughes was Fulham manager once and spoke to Villa, didn’t get the job and resigned

Either that or he'll use it to get a new, improved contract at Sunderland.

Think there will come a point when he will walk, but having signed a new contract in the summer he will stay,do think however the CBS situation will need to be sorted.

I can’t quite believe they didn’t offer him improved terms after promotion and decided to keep him on his rolling contract

I do think this young owner of Sunderland is a bit of a chancer to be honest, that lot will lose patience very quickly if they lose Neil and make a mess of appointing his replacement

That’s what I’ve thought, they’ve never disclosed how long he’s contracted for

Dyche was their number 1 choice but he turned them down.

They are apparently interested in Robins, Neil and Wilder.

Just spoke to my contact at Sunderland AFC - I think Robins is safe here for the moment. He's not going to Stoke, that's for sure.

Sunderland were interested in him before though.

Would they try again?

Still not sure I'd fancy the job, mind.

Me neither, they have no patience.

A smart manager would be looking at turning them into a poem team in about 4/5 years with proper development but they will probably be demanding sackings if they don't get playoffs this season.

Not gonna happen… it’s an absurd suggestion.
