So Cov Tel are reporting we might only get him back on loan if Lewis doesn’t go to Crystal Palace

McCallum loan return could hinge on pending Palace deal

But it was already rubbished 3 days ago by their journalist

I just think we are shooting ourselves in the foot. I'm not saying the proposed figure is bad, not at all, but I just think we would/could get so much more in the summer.

Get promoted which is a real possibility, then we are a championship team, with a very real possibility of playing Norwich. In that position 6 months down the line I think we could get more for him. And if no one stumps up then he plays in the championship with us and 1 good season there and much bigger clubs than norwich could be interested and we can be the team selling for a lot more money.

Otherwise I can see us and Norwich in the championship next year, he plays well and we see him get sold on in a year or 2 for mega bucks and we would be wishing we had waited until the summer to see where we are at.

Even if we are still in league 1, he isnt going to be sold for any less than what he could be sold for now.
Just think if we waited we could reap a bigger reward.

Making sure we’ve got a decent sell on is essential (for example 20% on profit rather than 10)

We all know there’s no certainty in player development at higher levels, for every Maddison there’s a fair few more Bigirimana’s (no disrespect to the lad, he just didn’t turn into a multi million pound player) so if we can secure the type of deal being proposed/rumoured and good sell on clause we’ve got to accept (unfortunately)

Looks like Oxford are selling Baptiste and Fosu-Henry to Brentford for £3m combined.

Yeah that is a fair point mate. Just hope the money will help the team whether that be now or in the summer window.

The loan back of Maddison wasn't very successful really, was it?

We lost 11 games that half of the season, I doubt Maddison was at fault for that.

Think I’d be hard pressed to find another fan who liked Bright Enobakhare much more than I did, but I’ve noticed a few are calling for the money to be spent on him. Hmm. Maybe my first sentence is wrong then... even though I think we’re missing a no.10 I’m not sure it’d work.

We don’t play with a 10 mate he would have to play where Shipley & Westbrooke play also add some defensive attributes to his game but games like Fleetwood Bright is the difference between a draw & winning that game

Must have been some truth in them being in for him in the summer. He needs MR to keep him on the straight and narrow.

I agree with you here. It's all part and parcel of our business plan. And it's worked if this sale rumour is true.

Why not try to get a buy back put in the deal so if he improves as many on here think he will get him back for £10 million and sell straight on for £30 million.

£3m and a loan back for the rest of the season is good business.

Move on.

Agreed, I’ve had this feeling from the start of his time in the first team. Don’t get me wrong, he absolutely has deserved to retain his place over the term but there have been times when you expect him to be given a rest for a match and he just kept being in the team. I have the same feeling that someone else had, that Mason had been briefed that this is what they were looking to do and he’ll get a proper chance to compete for his place back post-January.

Which, now that I’ve written it, makes little sense!

I’m happy with £3 mill for a player who has potential. Defensively he’s not brilliant and has put about 3 decent crosses in this season.
I prefer mason. In the here and now mason is better in my opinion. Another year or two of progression at the same rate for mccallum and he will be in the England squad but we have to take the money when we’ve got mason there to replace him.

His value is only going to rise and by the end of the season we could be a Championship side negating the need for him to move. Even if we're not we'll have more interest and hopefully a bidding war of sorts

Why will his value only rise? He’d be in the bargain basement of wages in the championship if we did get promotion

I don’t understand this. He’ll only be worth a large amount if he stands out in the Championship. Simply getting promoted to the Championship doesn’t increase his value by much

No as again that’s a red herring.

If I lent you £10 and you lent your mate £10
And he lent his mate £10 how much has been lent?

There is the issue of how much of that 'investment' was/is accrued interest rather than money they've actually put in.

But just because they were forced to capitalise it under the admin doesn't mean it no longer counts at all. If anything that counts more as investment because they can't ask for it back now. Everything in the accounts since admin could still end up being paid back.

And we'd probably be a struggling side which wouldn't help him as he would be more exposed defensively

He could be a Maddison or a Wilson. Equally, he could be a Stevenson or a Harries. All we know for sure, is he will be the most expensive sale from League One for a left back. If we get him back on loan, can anyone really criticise this deal?

No it’s not. They set up numerous companies and those companies lent the same money so the transfer to preference shares of debt is a paper excercise . The Sisu investment is below £20 million - it’s not even an argument
