Agree. The striker choices have failed miserably thus far.

Think if we had held firm on McNulty this wouldn’t have been an issue. Or if we had cast the net more widely for his replacement

Indeed.

If we had a goalscorer who was taking the sitters we have been creating we would be such a better side and would be sitting higher in the table.

Rochdale missed a couple of sitters didn’t they - gillinghan missed two in the first half last week as well I seem to recall

we are in league one, when a team get a goal scorer then they normally lose them to a higher league due to the fact of wages and fees, most teams in league one are in the same boat, everyone needs a 30 goal a season striker but then they get sold to a league above and dont make the grade.

If mcnulty wanted to go which he did then how could we hold on to him.
We would have just had a miserable player who wouldn’t have played or performed and would have sat out his last 12 months until we lost him for nothing

Way easier said than done. Keeping an unhappy player at a club can have an adverse effect on a dressing room which in turn can be detrimental to team chemistry.

Where Robins probably slipped up was again being stubborn and putting all of his eggs in one basket with Chaplin. I'm sure he had a long list of potential replacements but because Robins is Robins he saw what he wanted and refused to budge.

I don't know what people fail to grasp.
McNulty has a young family and the Reading move was a chance to either secure or go some way to securing their future. You can't deny a man that chance and if you did they'd have every right to be pissed off.

Given the stick Burge gets on this board, no idea how we have the right to demand loyalty from anyone really.

Are you saying Gillingham draw was fair result then? I was st game and genuinely felt a 3/4 - 1 win would have reflected better. There has also been plenty of games where we should have been 2/3 goals up and out of sight but have failed to score and result has turned against us.

A disillusioned McNulty would've still fared better than Craplin

I know i'll get lynched for saying this but he's not the man to take us forward.

He's proven time and time again this season that he's incapable of switching to a plan B.

He makes laughable substitutions far far too late in games to have any impact. Why?

He can't fix the simple things that cost us points and he seems to have zero learning agility.

He's set up defensively against shit teams, he constantly plays players out of position (even after when he's forced to play them in position they have a much better game).

He refuses to drop shit players like Burge and Haynes.

Even if we by the grace of god fluke it through the playoffs (if we make it) and get promoted, I still don't think he's the man to take us forwards. If countless people on a football forum can see things, how can't he when he's paid (with our ticket money) to focus on nothing but the football team?

Just wondering if you have changed your mind now, robbie?

This initial post was obviously before we went up last season. We have now been promoted and are just a single point behind 6th place in League One.

Changed your mind now on the manager, or do you still feel the same about long term?

What’s interesting is the upturn in form since Doyle JCH and Ogogo left.

Clearly there was stuff going on to disrupt the team that Robins obviously dealt with.

Also team has looked better since Chaplin has been injured too.

In Robins we trust. Two trophies, a promotion and possible playoffs in our first season back in league 1.
Cant be many managers out there who have achieved so much in a little time at a club with so much negativity and turmoil surrounding it.

Time for our beloved owners and council to step up to the mark now and whatever happens this season MR deserves to be given the time to get us back where we belong.

Agree there may have been discontent. With Doyle/abs and JCH not the team.
JCH has a case to feel aggrieved as I mentioned many times as Chaplin didn’t deserve to be in the team.

The Good run has been since Chaplin has been injured. But also don’t undersestimate Brights influence.

It's 44% in the second spell, Mowbray was 34%. Overall Robins is probably about 46% aggregated across two spells.
Historically we've never really got over 40%

Regardless Very impressive

If we could just sort off pitch out. Continue to run club well. Keep him for 5 years who knows where we could end up by thst time

Yes, but this wasn't a having a go post. Was just honestly wondering if he has now changed his opinion and if not, the reasons why he still feels the same.

I have never understood the impatience with Robins, or the young players, especially the strikers. We write so many off before a ball has been hardly kicked, including McNulty.

Even before a ball has been kicked in some instances.

Bakayoko being a case in point. Declared crap before he had even tied his bootlaces up.

There maybe something in that but I still think Chaplin can/will come good, the problem with him was his finishing, not his build up or work ethic.

I believe our problem this season has been a mentality issue. We haven't gone on periods of WLWLWLW. It's more been a case of league winning form then to bottom of the league form. I thought after the Burton game we would go on a losing streak but it hasn't happened. Hopefully we can finish strong.
