I know i'll get lynched for saying this but he's not the man to take us forward.

He's proven time and time again this season that he's incapable of switching to a plan B.

He makes laughable substitutions far far too late in games to have any impact. Why?

He can't fix the simple things that cost us points and he seems to have zero learning agility.

He's set up defensively against shit teams, he constantly plays players out of position (even after when he's forced to play them in position they have a much better game).

He refuses to drop shit players like Burge and Haynes.

Even if we by the grace of god fluke it through the playoffs (if we make it) and get promoted, I still don't think he's the man to take us forwards. If countless people on a football forum can see things, how can't he when he's paid (with our ticket money) to focus on nothing but the football team?

It hasn't worked for Mansfield . It hasn't worked for Leeds or Birmingham. It works when your team is at or near the bottom, not near the top of the league. Who on earth out there could come in and do a better job? If there is someone , bring them in, but I can't think of anyone .

So your rationale for sticking with the wrong person, is that you don't know confidently who the right one is?

Disagree. Worth another shot at building a squad. We’ve been unlucky with injuries to creative players and it’s a new league and we’ve done better than any relegated team.

It’s not up to our expectations but when is it ever? I think it’s a little arrogant to assume we should go straight back up.

If there was someone obviously better or if we weren’t anywhere close to playoffs I’d agree, but there’s still a likelihood however small that we are still going up this year. Under those circumstances talk of sacking the manager is premature IMHO.

Getting rid of robins isn’t the answer.

It’s frustrating of course but manager sacking isn’t the right answer.

Mark robins is the right man to lead this football club right now. No one coming in is going to have money to spend or a better chance so but for a few performances this season we would be top 3.

Keep him, we need to allow for a little failure to have any hope of success. Shitting the bed and sacking everyone when it doesn't go perfectly just sees the same routine over and over.

Ridiculous, regardless of our ups and plenty of downs this season, Robins hands have been tied to an extent because of the amount of players he had to bring in to replace the absolute dross from last season was it 12 players signed that is a big task, he has taken us to the brink of the play offs, we actually have a + goal difference at this stage of the season since god knows when, why replace the manager he has had 1 proper window to get these players in and as we all know unless you have plenty of wonga in the January window you aint going to pick up many decent players, lets see how the pre season signings are before saying we want yet again another manager !!!

Robins must stay... The managerial revolving door policy doesn't work. JH was not very good in his first season as Manager but the Board stuck with him

I agree that he needs to go if we don't go up, game management is poor, subs poor, signings poor, tactics poor. The injuries haven't helped but his replacements have been a complete waste of time.

So we’re in the playoffs, with season ending injuries to two key players, and you’re calling for the manager’s head?

I can’t really see what other options MR has really got? We have no right winger or right footed midfielder so we’ve had to move to a weird 4-3-3 type formation which I think leave us exposed. I think 5-3-2 would suit us, but, changing this stage of the season? I’m not sure.

Lincoln scored an unstoppable goal in the first minute, and they took their chances ruthlessly on the counter attack. Had we not conceded before half time, I think we draw this match.

Before anyone uses the transfer windows as an argument, in one summer signing 15 odd players, you’re not going to fill every need. Especially given the task of complete rebuild.

The common denominator in the games we won; Notts County, Lincoln, Exeter and compared to when we lost to these sides seems to be Jones. McNulty has that star quality, but he can’t do it on his own, we absolutely miss JJ.

Even if we don’t go up we should give him another year and at least give the man a chance to improve the squad again.

The revolving door policy hasn’t worked yet.

I mentioned in another thread, just off the top of my head, subs that have come on and changed games or scored in recent matches. Biamou, Reid (Newport), Biamou( Yeovil) Ponticelli (Notts Co), Biamou (Crawley). Even tonight Biamou forced the keeper into a great save with the back post header. Ponticelli had two great chances to score. Robins fault he didn’t score?
We are in the playoff places at the moment with all to play for. Robins has managed this with wretched luck with injuries. He turned around a club which was dire last season and has kept us in the top seven, despite those injuries, for 90% of the season. He has replaced half a team. Of the starting 11 tonight, only Burge, Haynes and Willis were in the team last season. Yet he is still criticised because he didn’t also replace Haynes and Burge. How big was his budget? I am pretty sure that Stokes was his preferred left back, not his fault that he has under performed this season.
A really bad, disappointing defeat tonight but it doesn’t warrant the reaction of some on here tonight.

Ok we all agree that his hands are tied when it comes to bringing in players, but he is certainly not getting the best out of what he's got
FWIW I think he's tactically naive and is not prepared to take risks when things are going against is

    Thorn, Slade.
People sometimes have short memories, our constant hire and fire hasn't exactly been a roaring success since relegation from the Premier League has it.

I said a few years ago - "Keep rolling those dice, double six is bound to come in eventually".
I agree with you, in all the comings and goings of the last 17/18 years there has only been the slightest and briefest glimmer.
Even our own fucking dice are loaded against us!

I think Nick would do a good job. The only downside is we would have all our subs used up inside 10 minutes

Nah the disciplinary record for "snapping in half" so many of the opposition would mean we'd struggle to field a side!

Surely that's harder than going up from L1?

I like robins. But he’s talking about getting reinforcements in, he and chief scout got these players in now there not good enough. Someone has to take responsibility for that if we don’t go up.

He had to replace virtually an entire team. 10-11 or 12 signings whatever it was, it would be some miracle if they came in and it all worked perfect. Some just wont\dont fit, maybe dont get on with the manager or staff then you have the injuries to key players, players not replaced expecting them to come on strong when they havnt.
Next season is the one for me, if it all goes tits up and we dont perform then yeah, bye bye. Now, not a chance, let him build his squad in the summer, building on the team he had to sign last summer. We have been in or around the top 6 most of the season and still have a very good chance of the playoffs.
He may not be everyones cup of tea, maybe dosnt get the tactics right all the time but i think he is the right man for the job right now, and certainly would be a crazy decision to get rid of him now. If play offs were the minimum at the start of the season, has he failed yet?
However it ends, it hasnt been that bad a season all things considered, it was never going to be easy!
    Onwards and upwards.

Can't sleep MDS? Watching that game had the same effect on me totally agree with you he should be given a chance to mould this team and take us up via automatics if we fail this time! which unfortunately I can see happening as I think this result will have blown the confidence of the squad and Mansfield will take heart from it. Can you imagine what sort of team we will have by getting JJ and Andreu back plus a couple of good full backs

Robins is culpable for some of our shortcomings, that's for sure but calling for a change of manager is a knee jerk reaction to poor result.
Robins has never flapped at a cross, passed the ball to an opponent or missed an open goal whilst he has been our manager and the main bulk of the responsibility for the stupid mistakes, switching off at key moments and wastefulness lies with the players.
Credit to Lincoln, they were a good side and we succumbed. Now we must look at Saturday and all is not lost.

My only concern with robins is he has a stubbornness about him which in my opinion stops him getting the best from certain players .

He left Huddersfield , they went on to do better
He left Scunthorpe and they also went on to do better

It’s like he’s great at setting up a foundation but can’t move the clubs forward as they should .

He wasn’t here long enough before to lay anything tbh
