Do most people think Bassette is done here or is there a chance of redemption?

Thoughts?
Done and that was clear when he went on loan last season. Plus he hasn’t pulled up any trees on loan to earn a redemption, so we get what we can and so we move on.

Probably preferred his loan option as a base to expand his career from?
I think that's probably the case. He's done well out on loan, limited opportunities to break into our first team for the foreseeable so probably wants to have a crack at a league club. Decent player there, will have a good career

Yes and our academy isn’t all about product for the first team. It is about developing people, it is about producing people to have a professional career in football at the various levels.

Good luck to him.

Fair enough

I thought quite a few of those U21's would be out of contract, but appears not.

Di Trollio is an odd one. Feels like he's been on the books a long time now so must have had his contract extended a few times yet he's never made the bench, hasn't had any loan spells of note that I can remember?

Had two full years at nat league South aged 17 and 18. Played every game pretty much.

Last year he got injured 20 mins intl the first pre season game and hasn't featured since. So I assume they've extended his contract by a year to see what he does this year? But it is a bit odd they've not mentioned the extensions.

Surprised about Yearn as was told he was highly rated within the club. Could be down to our success that a few of the young lads will not get a look in within the first team.
Very surprised also. A Cambridge fan i know bigged him up massively when we signed him and he looked quality in the Singapore tournament last summer. Big strong goal scoring centre half, think he will make it as a pro somewhere

He's 20 and didn't make a single matchday squad. Clearly wasn't that highly rated.

But football prospects are part of a moving conveyor belt. Sometimes clubs decide to move people on, sometimes it is the players themselves. Development isn’t an exact science, it is like trying to predict which whisky barrels will mature the best.

I think Yearn will eventually make it about league 1.

Im am curious about James though. Im sure he is Slowpokes grandson and the family hinted thay Chelsea were after him so I thought he'd be a future potential. Unless im getting mixed up (which does happen)

Joseph McCallum is another strange one. Signed a pro contract with us last summer, went on trial with Chelsea U21s for about 2 months, then signed permanently for Wycombe in February.

And there was no explanation for any of it.

Nope. It’s under 21s that are exempt.

I think the 24 year thing relates to the age cutoff where the club(s) that player was 'developed' at getting a cut of any transfer deals.

And he has got nowhere near the Wycombe squad, what explanation do you want?

He, like the rest of them, are not good enough to break into our side. That’s the harsh reality of youth football, doesn’t mean they’re bad players.

I mean we post club statements when an U21 player moves on loan to Slough Athletic in Step 5 for a month, bit odd there was nothing for a contracted player joining Chelsea on trial then signing for an EFL team.

What a couple of days for Greg Sandiford.

Released by us yesterday.

Plays for Grenada today, in what I think was his international debut.
A scoreline to forget though.

That Jack James did look quite small for a budding professional footballer. Seemed good on the ball in the few games I seen, but if you're small and lightweight you need to be exceptional to compete with the giants of today's game.

Do I not like seeing Loan Players Returning to Parent Clubs- Carl Rushworth.

Not one bit

The odd thing is the 'trial' at Chelsea. If he's going there at 19 or whatever then he must be highly fancied by scouts. Yet straight after that signs for Wycombe. You'd have thought there'd have been someone in between Chelsea and Wycombe who would have wanted him. Including us, but as he joined Wycombe we didn't seem that bothered about keeping him. In which case why on earth was he training at Chelsea?

You might be getting mixed up in that last sentence as Yearn is a fairly slight creative midfielder!

To me it reads as if the lesser likely first teamers have been let go with a view to recruiting to bring in replacements fit for the PL to accompany who we have kept. That way the current squad is kept mostly intact and better additions brought in. I'm quite probably way off

is who I'd keep (18), leaves room for seven. I won't be surprised if we add two CBs and sold one I listed, same upfront. Also aware we might loan Dovin out. I guess I'm making the point that most of the perm. squad from this season will have a role to play.

I’m sure we’ll bring in more than 7 players.

I'm expecting between 8-10, just pointing out that with loans gone back and fringe players released or sold (Allen, Bidwell, Lati) we've got room for seven without selling anyone. Keeping 15-18 from the squad will be great for continuity, momentum etc.

He mostly played as a striker on loan at Chesham. And according to sofascore he's 180cm tall, so around 5'11".

I think we might keep Latibeudiere due to his versatility. Worst case scenario he can play CB,RB and DM
