The ref gave us fuck all all game, anytime somebody breathed near their players they hit the deck and got a free kick.

Yeah 9 out of 10 times it's a foul but it's stupid to play for it, slow down and hope the ref gives it rather than just dealing with it. We were 1-1, they had all of the momentum, their fans had piped up. Just get rid of it for the point.

Would’ve been a soft foul in my book.

Strange how there’s multiple posts in this thread after today’s game, but nothing after Cardiff, which was surely the game where the referee had more impact on the result than any other of our games this season.

I dont think it's a foul, and I think it gets given as a foul far too often. Football is a contact sport. What's about his dive minutes earlier in the box when the striker is just stronger than him? Just deal with the ball. Again can you imagine Fadz letting that happen without taking the ball with him.

Such a contact sport that when Eccles and Bassette won the ball in the centre of the pitch the reg blown up for a foul! 50/50 challenges are a thing of the past these days! It’s whoever complains loudest wins the free kick!

He defends like a fullback. What I mean by that is that he defends as if the touchline to help him out when he’s playing CB and that is an issue in the box and that causes issues.

Constantly misjudges situations, there’s been 3-4 examples since Boxing Day. He’s a lot more exposed at CB as opposed to RB or even RCB.

It's taken some effort, but tonight's was the worst yet this season. A respectably woeful display unless you're from Sheffield.

Unsurprisingly, the bloke is from Yorkshire. How convenient.

With the David Coote thing recently, and the state of some of the refs we’ve had this season, I think they need to come under more scrutiny. Either todays was highly incompetent or he was cheating, but it is time for something to be done by the governing bodies.

He was awful.

Need to see Thomas disallowed goal back and what happened to binks before their goal. Looked a clear foul on him.

He tried his best to give them everything

Not allowed to question them. I think they should be made to answer about big decisions after the game.

I get that people are human and make mistakes but some are just shocking.

Even when you do question it you’d just get a “it’s tough to be a ref”. Just watch when they debated the man United pen against city. The ref couldn’t fathom it being questioned

Listening to CWR on my way home they said the ref has officiated mainly at League One & Two matches.

Also the linesman on the North side was woeful for offside calls he definitely missed a couple and was generally quite slow to flag them.

And I think that’s what partly needs to change, they won’t improve if they can’t be challenged or questioned

"Grass roots parent abuse" apparently.

Imagine normal people making so many mistakes every day in their job.
It is tough in the middle, anyone who’s tried it will tell you that. Today though he was either cheating or so genuinely incompetent he needs binning off.

The one they missed looked offside.

What do they base this on? Do they even watch the refs performances?
He has been reffing in the lower leagues and they must be trying to progress him personally I wouldn’t bother.

Yep no foul on keeper and clear foul on binks
Why he made him go off rather than getting treated on the pitch is beyond me
What was the issue with letting him be treated

I assume he was bleeding.

The issue was it was a clear foul on him to cause it.

He was bleeding but safety is key
It’s added time
It’s 11 v 10 at the corner
It’s just such a silly decision to press
Far better for binks to go down and get treated
It was a clear push on him with the ref looking straight at it
I imagine he has some great games letting the game run but he’d try it and then decide to give a free kick for something he’d previously let go
Allen yellow
Eccles yellow
Both shocking decisions
On that show Kitching lucky not to be sent off after 5 mins
