With all the anti racism campaigns at the moment, I was astounded to read this between two CCFC players on twitter. I can understand it in private, they can call each other what they like. But twitter is a public domain where adults and children follow their footballing idols. "@JordanClarke17: #FF my negro @ashleycain3" In my opinion someone should be reprimanded for this!

It is only racist if the white man says these things. The inconsistencies of race relations, black people can call themselves the N word, but if a white person used the word they are forever damned.

Negro's an inoffensive term and isn't classed as racist. Like you said, it's a public domain and they can say whatever they like on there within reason. I don't think they've broken any rules.

Like Kuk Says, shout negro at one of the boys on the pitch today and you will be up on racism charges. Just because they are of colour doesn't mean they can say it when we cant.

Make a fuss then.

Why should someone be reprimanded for it, they are friends. If anything you ought to be reprimanded for starting a stupid thread and for thinking Ashley Cain is still a city player, FOOL!

Its in the public domain where most of their followers are CCFC fans. Like I said, what they do and say in private is up to them but put it in public and its another story should Nile Ranger have been given a bollocking for holding a gun and posting a picture on twitter? Apparently not!

Jesus christ you muppet. Everyone understands the context under which he used the word negro. Lighten up. I imagine you get offended by Frankie Boyle jokes as well. If its not to your taste do not follow/ watch etc.

I am completely behind gettin racism out of football but this is not the sort of issue we're getting at surely?

So a black kid is racist for using a common expression among black kids towards another black kid - beggars belief. Next I will be called prejudice for describing Sheff as a useless lazy twat.

Can't see what the problem is myself. I'm sure you'll find it's fine for a black person to say negro to another black person. Bit of a non story.

Racism isn't purely words, it's intent.

If you read that do you think Ashley Cain was being abused by Clarke?

A word is either racist or it isn't. You cannot have certain races being allowed to say words, yet others can't say them, because ironically that would be racist, go figure.

Words alone are not racist, it's the context in which they are used.

For example, someone not a million miles away saying it's disgusting that there are a lot of ethnic minorities in Leicester is way more racist than if I called some white guy my nigga.

I'm bored with all this racist/racism malarchy. Its basically overused and demeaned now by the PC idiots.................brought in largely by New Labour I might add to throw at anyone who didn't agree with their open door immigration policies. You will always get people with little or no class who are genuine bigots, the vast majority I find live and let live.

clearly the word has unfortunate connotations, but I don't think its being used in a raised way. The most unfortunate part is that it been openly used on twitter, footballer have a lot of young followers I would not want them open using that word without really understanding what kind of effect it can have on other people.

I think somebody should have a little word with his that all, nothing more.

Well if Labour had an open door policy then the present Home Secretary must have taken the door off the hinges during her "pilot" this summer-then blamed someone else and trashed his career to save her job. Typical Torie-a bit like SISU.

Ooh, bit of politics
