Racial slur against Jordan Clarke on Twitter (4 Viewers)

I'm not going to explain the meaning of devil's advocate as I believe you already know the definition.
I fail to see where two sides come into this story.
What I do see is endemic and ingrained racism on a daily basis in this country and exhibited on this forum.
If calling that into question and labelling it as "causing trouble", then so be it.

Ah, the "Pete Townsend" defence.

Very gutted and annoyed about this. I take pride in the fact I've never heard any racist comments or chants in the 22 years I've been going up the city. Being mixed race myself it's something I'm very sensitive about and I'm ashamed that coventry 'fans' are dishing out these sort of comments. I genuinely think things are getting worse for this sort of behaviour and it's a massive shame. People's true colours come out from behind a keyboard, and whoever did this is quite frankly, an utter c*nt.
As someone who has been around maybe a few more years I really don t see racism getting worse. In fairness you may be in a better position to judge

What if in the heat of the moment, face to face, I call someone a ni**er face to face in an argument?

Not acceptable full stop.

As I am not a racist I would never use such a word no matter how angry I got.

'Heat of the moment' doesn't wash.

To be fair you are probably right. I've heard about the 70's/ early 80's from my mum and now isn't a patch on that.
I mean on the Internet etc, like I said, true colours come out from behind a keyboard.

There is still an awful lot of racism about unfortunately.

It's still around for sure, you only have to look at the news this week about the Birmingham 3. They had frightening plans albeit fairly amateurish. I do thing the scales are tipping favorably though compared to when I was growing up

I called David bell fucking useless in the heat if the moment, surely you can make allowances for that?

Don't think 'fecking useless' is a racial slur somehow.

Coming from someone whose comments are nearly always sarcastic/ flippant or tongue in cheek did I really need a wink face at the end of that comment Otis !

;) just in case

Anyway, David Bell is not a race.

If he was, he'd be a one horse one.

Up against a tortoise.

And he'd lose.

I'm not being funny but ghd whole racism thing annoys me..I can guarantee 80%+ people on here use or have used racist wording aimed at somebody not always to their face but behind closed doors or in your car..I'm afraid the racist term is thrown around very lightly and only evergoes one way.I'm sick to death as a white Brit of having to hear about racism as if it never gets aimed at whites..if it is its a very different attitude...I'm not racist but I don't condone an angry outburst like some ..it amazes me the whole hypocrisy of the term racism...let's just renamed it non whiteism and be done with it and then we can all go hug a tree

Can somebody tell me if their is a difference between being called a black c**t and a welsh c**t for example

It's the same at all Clubs I'm sure but there have always been certain players who fans pick on.

Personally, I don't rate Clarke, but I wouldn't throw insults at him, racial or otherwise. Some fans go over the top and I genuinely believe they hate certain players/managers: Thorn, Hussey, Bell being some examples. I remember on the now infamous "David Bell" thread (http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/18035-David-Bell) where LBB/Cheever gave himself away I said that fans do "hate" and I was shouted down, not just by LBB/Cheever but by a fair few regulars on here.

My feelings haven't changed, some fans don't know how to stop their criticism or dislike for certain players/staff turning into hate. Twitter is a dangerous place and can get players/fans into trouble in equal measure. A bit like when O'Donovans missus thanked City fans for paying their mortgage. Those idiots have always been there; they've just got more channels for it now.

Why are you sensitive about racism just because your mixed race ..again proving my point that its a term only used one way..I'm sorry but everybody seems to have lost touch of what racism actually is.
I think the term in the dictionary should read, RACISM...where white people should. Shut their trap but acceptable and ignored if said by others.

I have never ever used racist wording against anyone.

My philosophy in life is to treat everyone as an individual and everyone on their own individual merits. Therefore I would never have any reason to call anyone a Welsh cnut or a Scottish cnut or indeed a black one.

If they are a cnut they are a cnut anyway and not because they are Welsh, Scottish or black.

You get my point..and it is regardless of what you say i find it hard to believe you have never used a racist term..
My point stands racism only works one way ..its a term loosely thrown around.and is accepted if said by anybody who isnt white

Racism works both ways not one way.

White people can be racially slurred too.

And I can only repeat, I have never used racist language against anyone. If you treat every person as an individual it makes it pretty impossible to be that way.

Racism works both ways ...lol don't think so..eveybody from the police to the courts have proved this in the past .
It's a massively lob sided subject

I hope Robins uses this racial attack to rest Jordan for the rest of the season, mixed race, black or white I don't care as long as they put in better performances than he has so far this season.

I didn't say it wasn't lob sided. Just saying black people can be racist against whites too and it does happen.

The lob sided thing has some relevance though doesn't it. Considering most slaves over the last 200 years have indeed been black.

Maybe we should spend the rest of our life saying sorry to all the countries we destroyed during the empire aswel.its history the past ,gone ,doesn't happen anymore..this country is unbelievably tolerent .what about treatment of white farmers in Africa..let's overlook it shall we.but that's ok because we have to even things up from history

I'm inclined to agree with you Macca, but we must remember that it is always a minority involved in racism or any kind of football misdemeanours. The problem arises when that minority act more frequently and then you get to the situation where all fans are tarred with the same brush, which is totally unfair.

I know lots of Leeds fans who are good mates of mine, but overall I'd still say Leeds fans are wankers because the good are overshadowed by the minority who are wankers. We need to be careful we don't get that same reputation, there have been a few incidents recently (Brighton away, Yeovil etc) that could damage our reputation as fans and I can't say I'm overly pleased about it.

What a fucking hypocrite.

Hold tight sunshine, where did I say it only goes one way, my dad is white and got racist abuse off a couple of black youths when we were walking through Birmingham, the game when Marlon King put us 1-0 up, and I kicked off (verbal only, I'd probably have got battered) and stuck up for him.
My ex was Chinese and used to get abuse of everyone, I always stuck up for her even though she didn't want me too and got into several scuffles.
I've stuck up for Asian friends at school/college and university from abuse from black and white people.
I am sensitive to it both, no ALL ways.
So don't go putting words into my mouth for your 'Us whites are so hard done by' crusade.:jerkit:

Oh, and point dis-proven I think.

Most of the 'white farmers' in Africa are horrible Dutch cunts anyway. Fuck 'em.

The few I saw seemed to be exclusively by the kind of person who does little else but try to annoy famous people into getting some kind of response. The most puzzling thing was the one about how Clarke should go back to picking mangos. Where in Coventry are all the mango trees?

Fucking hell, here we go, the old "Working class white males are oppressed, can't call anybody a nig-nog now without being accused of being a racist, a bit of Paki-bashing doesn't do any harm, shouldn't be here anyway" line.

I agree, white working class males(and females) are oppressed, as are black, brown or any other colour working class males and females.

It's never been about White v Black, Irish v English, Germans v Russians, or any other contrived conflict, but Rich v Poor, and the rich always win, and will always win whilst the poor are pitted against each other rather than the real target.

If more people understood that, rather than just being pawns to the elites then the World would be a fairer place for all.
