No, my argument is that everyone deserves an equal shot at getting tickets. Reserving tickets for people online would be just as ridiculous.

I agree with that mate, I guess if you only have 3/4 serving to a queue of say 400, it's going to be pretty slow going whilst others online can get access to theirs after 5-10 mins denying somebody who has waited an hour or two for whatever reason. Putting a few aside for the queue to me anyway does seem to be fair and gives all a fair shot at a ticket. I guess there's no easy answer.
Thank god we are not Man U or Barcelona, would be many a stressful time getting tickets for top games

Seems harsh that people have been queuing for hours and might not get one, whilst others, like myself, got straight online and snapped one up/

Why should they be rewarded for buying tickets in the most inefficient way imaginable? Just because they inexplicably decide that buying tickets should take two hours instead of two minutes doesn't make them more dedicated, it makes them a bit weird.

Have you thought about the people whose computer systems are down AND can't afford to queue up outside the Ricoh for two hours? Maybe we should reserve a few hundred tickets for them too.

Not really. There are a number of reasons why people need to get them in person. I had to get some for corporate st holders today, and you cannot do that online. Usually you would ring up and reserve them, but because the club announced tickets were going on sale today on Saturday night, there was no opportunity to do that and I didn't fancy my chances on the phone. There were people there this morning getting disabled tickets (not available online), and also a lot of people like to get their coach tickets at the same time. Getting through on the phone is a pain at the best of times, hence why a lot of people went in person for those reasons. Doesn't make them weird. I go online or call 90% of the time, but just wasn't practical today.

At the end of the day all clubs use Internet, phone-line & ticket office. Everyone has a choice how they buy tickets but understand that one may give you the advantage over another.

If I didn't have Internet I'd ask someone to do it for me with my details or go to a library or phone in. I'm a ST holder but had a hospital appointment at 9am, home for 10.20am & they were sold out online. Disappointed but about 60% of ST holders will be.

At the end of the day, even after an awful season last year I committed to a ST this season as we had two shots at Wembley, I wanted to give myself the best chance of being there should we make it. If they didn't give ST holders priority I might not have bothered.

Get your facts right! They weren't holding tickets back and thats just been confirmed when the ticket office manager had to break the news that we're down to the last 100 (probably less than that now as i was still queuing when he said this but have just left).

We don't ask for preferential treatment. Nor is it just people who "can't operate a computer or dont have a job" that queued. Yes I've taken offence to that comment if you can't tel! I chose to queue up. I do have a job. In fact ive had to take the morning off to get my ticket! My choice to! I also can operate a computer. Most of my working day is on one however i always have problems getting tickets recently (dont no why and the club ignore my request to have it looked into) and didnt want to potentially miss out!

Any how, got mine but theres going to be alot of unhappy customers in that queue right now! And the office staff / manager is getting the brunt of it

Nah, I'm not bitter. My only worry is that as someone who can't queue up outside the Ricoh, I don't want the fans who happen to be able to do that to get preferential treatment, just like I wouldn't expect me to get priority online. As ferret explains, it's a complicated situation, which is why the fairest way to do it is make sure that it's possible to buy all kinds of tickets by all kinds of methods, and not restrict people any more than you have to.

Yep. There was single seats dotted around but you couldn't select them. Then they'd change colour before your eyes as they were purchased in ticket office.

Fair play to you mate, but I can't believe it's easier to take a day off work and queue up in sub-zero temperatures for hours than it is to get the online ticket system working! Glad you got one anyway.

Still seems to be a few online? Keep checking..remember the tickets are held for 10 mins. If someone doesn't purchase within the 10 mins they are back up for sale..

Why did it have to be Crewe we were playing.

Bradford would of gave us 4500, Preston 6k, Sheff 5k, Vale 6k.
Many more would of gave us 3k+.

On the flip side at least we have an opportunity of selling more for the home clash as I reckon the club may open up the DeVere stand to home supporters, something they wouldn't be able to do if it was Bradford or Sheff Utd as both would probably bring 3000+.

We've sold over 10k in 3 days for the home game. The away one is the game we could make it to wembley so of course uptake will be massive. 7k season ticket holders and only 2.5k available.

Appatently for the semi against Bradford Crewe only got around 3000 to turn up.

Shouldnt be, get them in the main stand near the wulvern end, lets take over their ground, we have the fans.

Brings back memories from 98 at Villa park when Moldovan scored in the cup! i was in the home end keeping quiet until that moment the goal went in, when stacks of city fans jumped up around me, i was up like a shot! cant remember if there was trouble at that game, may be someone with a better memory can help!

There are no rules when it comes to getting tickets, everyman for himself. Learned that years ago when i queued over 8 hours on a Sunday for FA cup tickets for Everton away, missed out by 3 people in front. Turned out there were people getting 50, 60 and apparently 90 tickets for mates with season tickets since then as with this Crewe fixture you plan a course of action. I queued while my lad tried online and got 4 tickets, 2 adult at a tenner and 2 juniors at 2 quid each. I just texted him the long number on the season tickets and hey presto. Does seem wrong though that many have missed out despite queuing yet my lad sat in his warm front room up in Merseyside drinking hot coffee gets 4

I didn't plan to take the morning off; just Planned to go in late. Didnt expect it to be 2 hours late tho! Queue was as long as it was for Spurs but due to fewer tickets available was a hell of alot slower. Only took half hour for Spurs!

My online issue seems to be ignored by the club so couldn't chance not getting one by relying on it. Have asked te club to suggest reasons why but still up to now they've ignored me. May just be me but ive tried on my phone (2 web browsers) and the old mans laptop but still won't le me buy online! Let me do the home tie funnily enough, but not for away fixtures. Wanted Sheff United ones but didnt work. Even tried Preston ones just to see if it was the Sheff United link but didnt work!

I did have a friend phone me just as i entered the shop and they'd been on hold for an hour to see if I wanted them to get mine too, but after id queued all that time it seemed sensible to continue in the line! Thank god i wasnt made to regret that decision

This is the scene outside the ticket office when I arrived at 05:40 this morning….

I parked at Tesco and as I walked around from the casino, I wasn’t sure what to expect, would there already be a long queue? So when I saw no-one my first thoughts were sh*t its been cancelled due to the weather or I’d got the wrong date. For twenty minutes it was just me and Jimmy Hill until a few more joined the queue, by about 7am there was about 30-40 then it steadily increased up until opening time.
Because of the short notice, I was unable to get time off work so needed to make sure I was near the front. I know it’s not for everyone, but there is something about queuing with your fellow supporters that you don’t get when buying on-line – a sort of “we’re all in this together” the anticipation and then excitement when you finally get your hands on the ticket. The ticket office staff were also kind enough to let us into the warmth of the shop to prior to the tickets going on sale.
