If only that would happen...but unfortunately the armchair glory hunters will be all over it and lap up the tv hype of ‘super duper extra special Sunday’ with ‘international battles from Manchester, Madrid etc’ and before you know it football will only have begun in 2021.

I don't disagree with the sentiment of much of this thread.

It is worth noting we voted for the formation of the Premier League, however. Let's hope if such a time comes again, the clubs look for the many, not the few, to steal a phrase.

Time for everyone outside of the big six to “break away”. Fuck em. If they go for this they can all piss off out the English game IMO. The product is the strength of support across the country at various levels not a few “big” clubs. Give it five years and Leicester, Villa, Everton, West Ham, Sheff Utd, Leeds etc would all see a resurgence in support. As if Man Utd and Arsenal are even reliably top six clubs any more than Leicester are now.

Not that it sounds feasible anyway, especially in these Uncertain Times™. Bailing on the Premier League makes no financial sense for clubs like Liverpool and Man Utd until they've completely given up on selling their own TV rights for it, which is where the real jackpot will come.

Not that it sounds feasible anyway, especially in these Uncertain Times™. Bailing on the Premier League makes no financial sense for clubs like Liverpool and Man Utd until they've completely given up on selling their own TV rights for it, which is where the real jackpot will come.

But no Champions League would diminish League and knock on to to value of TV contract. If the top 4 aren't qualifying for a "prized" competition each season has to effect quality, competitiveness etc. Sides would be resting players for PL games as focus on European ones.
