No they were offered rent on a sliding scale where in league one they would have been on a much lower rent. due to the aspirations of the club to bounce back to the top flight this was rejected.
No 3 months into the "arrangement" the club advised ACL it was not a financially viable rental arrangement - they were told just to pay it.
It has been discussed numerous times on here. It came from an article by Geoffrey Robinson.
The problem with the valuation of any football ground is that the possible market is one. Not something most valuers experience when valuing property.
Would other people be interested in buying. Not when the tenant successfully decides whether they are going to pay rent or not. It makes it impossible to value.

It was in an article in the Telegraph. In December 2005 the Club approached ACL asking to renegotiate the rent as the Club could not afford the agreed amount. Not sure what happened and why it the reduction wasn't pursued.
