He's left footed, of course he's going to have a shot or is going to try to go across his left side. He had to get to him quicker, he had to block the line for the shot and send him outside on his weaker right foot. One step his his left stops the shot. You can see from his first touch he is having a shot.

Hamer was majorly to blame but JWE could and should have done better.

The other incident you mention was Doyle's ball all day long but his legs had gone, which is what he pretty much admitted in his post match interview.

Tbf not long before that he's dummied and gone on his right so that's why nobody committed I think

Not that I am aware.

It's just called being balanced and not piling everything onto a player I have decided I don't like. Just above I have disagreed with someone who thinks JWE should play tomorrow.

I don't think anyone on here rates Hamer higher than me but he was the one at fault for their goal.

Also don't you agree Bidwell and Doyle's defending before they were taken off where they left the ball for Diallo was really poor? Far worse than anything JWE did for the goal.

It's interesting that some people blame Wilson for the goal. Again ridiculous but he is one who gets blamed no matter how he plays.

You're just not allowed to criticise Bidwell. If you do then apparently it means you think Esbrand is the greatest left back since Ashley Cole.

If you've called someone garbage after their first appearance you have to criticise them every time they play and if you've called the manager a c**t you can never recognise his achievements no matter how successful he is.

Whiteman is out suspended for Preston, i think he's decent as is Browne and Johnson in their midfield

I would be tempted to rest Doyle, he's been brilliant, but I think he needs a small break to ensure he doesn't burn out/pull something. If Panzo was fit I'm sure he'd swapped them around. Stick Rose in there tomorrow.
Think, he'll go two up top as its easier to solve than the midfield. I wouldn't put JWE anywhere near the starting lineup , its nailed on for BIdwell (TBF I'd rather have Burroughs on the bench as backup) and midfield shouldn't be considered for him from what he's shown so far.
Only other debate would be the right, I think he'll stick with BNC but wouldn't be shocked if he went Dabo.

Must win game if playoffs are a realistic ambition, Millwall and Luton play each other tomorrow too (5th v 6th, both 5 ahead of us) so a real opportunity to close a gap and remove PNE from the race.

Godden in for Palmer. Rose for Doyle if not 100%.
2-0 win finally

Dunno where all this optimism is coming from I remember when Phil Brown managed them and they were 8 points back at the bottom of the league…we lost 2-1

He was I suppose but let’s be honest Hamer should have put the ball into row z.

I'd be tempted to bring Dabo back at rwb and move Norton Cuffy into the middle instead of palmer. He's quick good on the ball would cover a lot of ground with Hamer and Allen

Interesting that re. Cuffy he’s so unorthodox looks like he’s lost control then his telescopic type legs recover the ball. Our second goal Saturday was started from him coming through centre midfield does he have the experience though ? Would be a bit of a gamble.

He missed from a similar position about 5 minutes after. If he’d have squared it, there were 2 players with a tap in. Admittedly he made the chance from nothing after beating about 5 of their defence.

I have no confidence going into the game. Preston 'double chance' will be in my midweek accy.

I've accepted the loss already (Mr Negative), a point would keep the hope alive if we can have a strong March.

Win and I'll be nursing a semi until I'm on the train to Huddersfield.

Must admit I can't see why you would play Wilson-Esbrand in preference to Godden, especially out of position.

Because I dont think Godden is ready to start a game. I think he needs easing back with 20 minite slots. Hence why he didnt replace Palmer on Saturday and his introduction was delayed.

I don't think that's the reason, the reason was probably exactly what it appeared, they'd see how Palmer got on before taking him off.

If the management were waiting to see how Palmer was, why did they bring JWE on immediately for Palmer on 52 mins and play him in an unnatural position yet wait till 80 mins to bring Godden on ? I think Godden is being eased in slowly to avoid re-injuring himself. The question should be "Why bring on JWE instead of Walker or Maguire to replace an AM/F ?"

Perhaps we're under pressure to get him games, or Robins sees talent in him and is trying to find a way to get him involved. Bidwell is pretty much a nailed on starter and with Palmer out for a bit, there might be a change for him to impress in a new position if he takes to it.

We have a dismal record against Preston and they've found a tiny bit of form in the last three games. Having said that we are a very good team in this league and should be fearing no one.

Records good or bad are there to be broken.

Robins played JWE in front of Bidwell where Sunderland were starting to cause us problems down their right hand side, proved a good move as it did the job.

Frankly a disgrace that Boddy didn't demand Waghorn must play 90 minutes in both games as part of the loan agreement.

Might suit us going a flat back 4 tomorrow, McNally & Fadz as CB’s, Dabo and Bidwell FBS, push Hamer a bit more AM in an old fashioned 8 role, Eccles as old fashioned no.4, Double Barrelled loanees as wingers / wide mids that track back, Gyok and Gyods up front.

?

The one where we’ve been playing 1 up front?

You think we’ll keep it the same and play 2 up front.

Alright then.

I see.

I would be absolutely delighted with a point.

Actually my previous reply a tad harsh.

Just trying to think how we can get around having no attacking playmaker with Palmer out and how to put the back line together (with Doyle being possibly out - Rose not ready yet IMO) and bring Godden in.

Need Hamer pulling strings and sitting behind the front two. Gyok can pull wide and tbf so can Godden. This leaves JWE & BNC being able to cut in and also pull back.

Anyway. Just ramblings. I’m sure MR has a plan
