If there's anyone who can fuck it up it's Arsenal.Arsenal already have it won
Liverpool are all at sea, just no cohesion in that side, Chelsea and Citeh just arent seeing enough to maintain a challenge. Its already the Gooners title
Do wonder what impact Jota's death has had on the likes of Salah, he's looked so far off last season's standards.Arsenal already have it won

He's just not as good as he was, he also now gives zero cover now so teams back overload the RB.Do wonder what impact Jota's death has had on the likes of Salah, he's looked so far off last season's standards.
Also - Forest pinballing from Big Ange to Big Sean Dyche suggests they maybe don’t have a great sense of what kind of football they want to play.

I think this goal is a perfect example of why I take issue with people saying the PL isn’t as good as it used to be - the technique on display from multiple players across the park is above and beyond what anyone except the very best players from previous generations were capable of, it’s outrageous. And this is from the team currently sitting in 11th!That Villa goal was something special.

It's panic stations by Marinakis.
He appointed Ange as he wanted a more forward thinking brand of football but now he thinks the only way to get success is by deploying a similar style of play as what was deployed under Nuno - except with a much worse manager.
I think reasonable people can disagree on which playing styles are interesting to watch, but on a purely technical level today’s average PL player is far superior to PL players of 20 years ago and it’s not even close.I think Pep bringing in his tika taka diminished the excitement but football always goes in cycles and it seems teams are reverting to a more exciting brand of football.
I saw a premier League goal of the month contender reel from about 2006 I think it was. Lampard, essien, scholes etc. you don't get as many goals like that any more.I think this goal is a perfect example of why I take issue with people saying the PL isn’t as good as it used to be - the technique on display from multiple players across the park is above and beyond what anyone except the very best players from previous generations were capable of, it’s outrageous. Technical because they pass more ?I think reasonable people can disagree on which playing styles are interesting to watch, but on a purely technical level today’s average PL player is far superior to PL players of 20 years ago and it’s not even close.
No, I mean things like first touches, passing range, close control. Obviously the top players from 20 years could still thrive in today’s era, I just mean that the average PL player today has a skill set and technical ability far beyond the average player of 20 years ago.Technical because they pass more ?
Youd argue messi and ronaldo are still pissing it in modern football and they are products of 20 years ago.
But there arent many players as skillfull and natutally gifted as 20 years ago , that was trained out of them in academies , atleast they can pass and run alot

BBC had a good long read about this a while backI saw a premier League goal of the month contender reel from about 2006 I think it was. Lampard, essien, scholes etc. you don't get as many goals like that any more.
I think that’s horses for courses really…there were plenty of boring seasons at the top during the 90s and 00s too. More than a decade of Man Utd, Chelsea and occasionally Arsenal taking turns to win the league, often by huge margins. But this is a different thing to the original point I was making! And yet , the last 15 years have been an absolute snore fest for the most part at the very top
And yet the xG obsession has led to some teams trying to create the max xG chance so often that no shot is taken anyway. You’re obviously free to disagree, but teams are clearly shifting away from the tedious football of recent years and rediscovering concepts like shooting at the goal and passing in its general direction.BBC had a good long read about this a while back

Long range goals: Is shooting from outside the box a dying art in football?
BBC Sport explores the history of long-range goals in the Premier League and how data and tactics are shaping how often they're scored.www.bbc.co.uk
I’m not sure if that’s true given that the number of goals has (according to that article) been steadily climbing. And yet the xG obsession has led to some teams trying to create the max xG chance so often that no shot is taken anyway. There was a more recent analysis of a similar type on Arsenal and Man City’s ball progression compared to last season. Both are getting it forward at a higher speed.I’m not sure if that’s true given that the number of goals has (according to that article) been steadily climbing.
I meant more about teams taking fewer shots - is there evidence of that? There was a more recent analysis of a similar type on Arsenal and Man City’s ball progression compared to last season. Both are getting it forward at a higher speed.
Not to mention what Pep himself has said on the subject.
Here’s the piece.I meant more about teams taking fewer shots - is there evidence of that?
There must be data around too about whether teams are getting the ball forward more quickly, but I don’t know where to get it.
Slot was whinging about United playing the ball more vertically against them than teams used to.Here’s the piece.

Why Arsenal and Man City are bringing back long-ball football
Arsenal and Manchester City have been known for their intricate football, so why are they now starting to go long more often?www.bbc.co.uk
My comment about shooting is my gut feeling from what I’ve seen. Teams passing it around the penalty area, passing up decent shooting opportunities, then losing the ball anyway. Arsenal were horrendous for it in the games I saw, Chelsea too, though a few seasons back now.
He was bringing that in with Xavi, Iniesta and co. 99.9% of teams don’t have players of that calibre, most not even close.Slot was whinging about United playing the ball more vertically against them than teams used to.
Pep football is dying out.
that's what people forget, tiki taka was a defensive idea in that if the other team can't score if you keep the ball away from them and you don't need as many chances if your players are good enough as they will eventually score. He was bringing that in with Xavi, Iniesta and co. 99.9% of teams don’t have players of that calibre, most not even close.
Russell Martin will not find work again unless he admits he also has to move on from it, but I hope some Championship clubs persist with it at least this season.
They have got practically no chance of qualifying now have they?![]()

Feels like he’s fallen upward there! Could be coaching at the World Cup next summer and probably won’t even take much of the blame if they miss out.

Feels like bizarrely that the owners motives are seated elsewhere in his empire. Also - Forest pinballing from Big Ange to Big Sean Dyche suggests they maybe don’t have a great sense of what kind of football they want to play.
If they win their last two games (Switzerland away, Slovenia at home) and Kosovo lose their last two then they’ll likely make the playoffs. But hard to pin the blame on him even if they fail. They have got practically no chance of qualifying now have they?
He must interview brilliantly
