5th in the form table were Newcastle, so Burnley were up shit street. Could say the same about Leeds though as Brentford were 3rd. Both had one last chance to fight for it, so Burnley can swivel.

That's really tough luck - Mind you that's just one example of why of all the high street shops you'll never see a bookies boarded up.

Brentford deserve some credit here, 1st time in top-flight of football and they've made it look easy.

Now I'm forced to think about Burnley I seem to recall them being a bit of a bogey team for us.

They come down in a terrible financial state with some players out of contract and others that will want away, hopefully they are the perfect team to come down.

How are their finances so bad?
They're not exactly renown for splashing the cash. Something has gone badly wrong there.

I believe their owners have purchased the club with debt, Glazier style, albeit unlike Utd they don’t have the turnover to offset the debt against. Could be messy for them.

Takes me back to the 4-0 (iirc) away day there. Arrived late, my brother fell in a pile of shit when we climbed a fence as a shortcut and then we sat down just as Stephen Hughes saw red. A good trip. Wooden seats too although perhaps they’ve upgraded during their Prem years.

The wage bill seems pretty low doesn’t it? 74% of turnover - on the face if it it looks very stable

I suspect AVFC are considerably richer than they were halfway through the second half

It's the repayment of loans used to finance the club purchase that is the concern. I don't think it's a go-bust concern, more that they won't necessarily have the spending power.

Burnley face 'significant' loan repayment if relegated, accounts show

Burnley's latest accounts show the club would have to repay a "significant proportion" of a £65m loan at the end of the season if relegated from the Premier League.

They seem to have a large cash flow. I’d think they’ll be able to cope

I think the takeover of Burnley basically says if they are relegated then the balance falls due shortly. I think the new owners have it written in that they can pocket the parachute money to cover themselves.

With a £77m wage bill and no parachute payments they’ll have to gut the squad.

They had a large cash reserve at that point but would assume they haven’t paid off the ex manager yet. The reserve doesn’t cover the early repayment of the debt and the owners are not mega rich. Their crowds will plummet next year they always do when they come back down, they are no doubt in the worst position of the three coming down.

They will have their trousers pulled down on player sales as I can’t see the keeper stopping as it will effect his England place.

They have to repay a £65M loan shortly. The likes of Pope will be sold off and I'd be surprised if they come straight back up.

They have £50 million cash in the back and seem to be owed £65 million on top.

Is this thing about the Grealish transfer having a £25m add on if Man City win the league true or is it the usual twitter bollocks.

It’s a load of shite. City paid his release clause, there wasn’t any negotiation with Villa. It is true however that Wolves would have gotten paid by Liverpool has they won they league due to clauses in the Jota transfer.
