Look at the monstrous sum of money Forest have spent to get what in most other seasons would be a relegation point total. The gap between the PL and the EFL is yawning ever wider, which is a very different problem from Scotland - it probably won’t be addressed any time soon so long as the other end of the league remains intriguing, unfortunately.

It’s horses for courses really. I think the rising standard of technical ability makes for a satisfying watch at the higher levels. It’s a different game from what top flight football was like when I was a kid/teenager, and it’s natural to romanticise that period - everyone does - but if it really is getting robotic and boring, I don’t think that’s reflected in the game’s overall popularity, at least not yet.

Agreed, it seemed great at Barcelona. They were also worth a watch but in hindsight it was probably more to do with Roaldinho and then Messi.
