A draw and the last day is very interesting indeed, but can’t see Man City dropping the points.

The Spurs fans I know are actively hoping City beat them - they have zero interest in winning the game.

Think all three relegated teams are beatable next season - neither of them to be feared in the same way as this year’s cohort.

'Not since 1997-98 have all three promoted sides been relegated.

Crystal Palace, Barnsley and Bolton perished that season but they combined for a total of 108 points.

Burnley, Luton and Sheffield United have picked up just 66 points between them this season, 17 of which came against each other, smashing the previous lowest tally for three promoted clubs.'

I don't see that the rest of the league is much better this season either.

I think so, it's a horrendous reflection on the competitiveness of the league. The target was 40 points back in our day. We got relegated on 34 and think we were 8 points adrift at the end.

Look at the monstrous sum of money Forest have spent to get what in most other seasons would be a relegation point total. If we ever make it up, hopefully we do as Luton have done but spend more of the cash on players and less on ground improvements.

Hardly, imo. Genuinely exciting three horse title race, new teams coming in and out of contention, standard of play higher than ever. Hard to say with certainty that Man City’s period of dominance will last another three years. Meanwhile in Germany, Leverkusen are the first team not called Bayern Munich to win the league since the first Obama administration.

The gap between the PL and the EFL is yawning ever wider, which is a very different problem from Scotland - it probably won’t be addressed any time soon so long as the other end of the league remains intriguing, unfortunately.

It’s hardly an unusual period of dominance for any of the top European leagues

I preferred pre-tiki taka football when every player on the pitch wasn't essentially a midfielder to different degrees and athleticism wasn't so high teams could get away with a few flair players that didn't do their pressing but produced absolute magic on occasion.

It’s horses for courses really. I think the rising standard of technical ability makes for a satisfying watch at the higher levels. There are still plenty of flair players among the top sides too.

It’s a different game from what top flight football was like when I was a kid/teenager, and it’s natural to romanticise that period - everyone does - but if it really is getting robotic and boring, I don’t think that’s reflected in the game’s overall popularity, at least not yet.

VAR
Refusing to shoot
Arsing around at the back

Three things that a small minority would miss.

Refusing to shoot? There are more goals than ever so…
Arsing around at the back is way more enjoyable to watch than an almighty HOOOOOOF

I suppose points 2 and 3 are interconnected. To me the arsing around looks pretentious and leads to needless goals being given away, there’s a pretty lengthy compilation from this season alone.

We can add bringing everyone back for corners to the list as well!

Pretentious?! Is this a John Smiths ad?

Needless goals being scored are fun and good, actually.

Forest had a scattergun policy that was never going to work, their owner is mental. Fair play to Luton.

Agreed, it seemed great at Barcelona. They were also worth a watch but in hindsight it was probably more to do with Roaldinho and then Messi. Otherwise it's bloody tedious.

They've been put down today on Sky Luton that is, something like 1 win and 4-5 draws since Christmas,Rob Edwards isn't all that.
While congratulating themselves over refwatch with Dermot and how he brought his career to an end.
Pathetic!!!

It's going to get worse yet according to Mourinho, goalkeeper s are going to get like an outfield player with duties beyond keeping!!

Who ended who's career?

Still, for they modest outlay Luton did well I thought. A bit of luck earlier in the season and it could have been a different story. The wheels did fall of at the end admittedly.
