Hamer has more assists than any player in the division. People saying he wouldn’t get in ahead of the players we’ve got are performing massive cope.
He might have, but how much of Sheffield United's mediocrity is down to him not being able to cover ground due to lack of fitness?*

When we played them, he had all of the technique and quality, but none of the drive or verve.

*I don't know the answer to this, it's just said to make a broader point. Their fans don't seem particularly enamoured with him anymore, however.

Point is you can get someone fit quicker than you can teach them to play football.

You shouldn't have to get them fit, though. He has access to all the facilities and trainers required to maintain requisite levels of fitness, but doesn't.

It's easier to teach someone to play football than to get someone to do something they don't want to do.

Sheff Utd under Wilder is famous for poor fitness discipline. He wouldn’t be under Wilder here so it’s irrelevant. Fact is he’s a better footballer than anyone we’ve got here.

People have to take responsibility for themselves. He can't say 'Wilder got me fat'.

I don't doubt his quality, just his commitment to keeping himself at his peak. For that reason, I don't want him back. I don't for a second doubt that Lampard wouldn't either. There's a man who appreciates professionalism.

You’re projecting. By all accounts we looked at him in January.

The couple of things we need in player attributes looking at various PL games is power and pace. We’re going to need a lot more of that through the team.
Was just about to post the same. I’m watching Palace vs West Ham and the pace, strength and athleticism is another level. Also the technical ability compared to the championship is a different beast too.

Even West Ham flirting at the bottom is different level to what we’re used to. Good challenge to have.

Bowen put two absolutely honking corners in, made Eccles look like Beckham

The other thing is there is so much movement from the attackers. The close control and quick passing around the box.

I remember the season we went up from L1 to the Champ and we saw a gap in quality even through we destroyed L1. Going to be a very similar feeling for a while as the players adjust and new players bed in.

I have no idea how realistic most of these are, but here are some out of contract players for the mid-table/lower placed clubs:

Ryan Sessegnon

Rico Henry

Mathias Jensen

Daichi Kamada

Yves Bissouma

Jefferson Lerma

Will Hughes

I think Henry has a club option. He’d be a class signing. I’d also add Adam Webster for experience

A football brain too

Time on the ball and time to think about the next pass, touch or dribble is miniscule compared to the Championship
