Unlucky. Great first half but as always, struggle at set pieces

We’re a young team and not far off

Burge should never play for us again now. I'd also play Wakefield instead of Thomas last 2. Should have won that comfortably if Thomas could score.

Fucking fuming

Tbf without Thomas in the side we wouldn't be making such great chances, his running and movement is brilliant

That guy on the left changed the game for them, his crosses caused us problems all second half

We need another attaching midfielder and goal scorer on top of that.

I would bring in McNulty on loan for the season and sign Scannel from Bradford.

The missed chances were a disgrace and Portsmouth rightly punished us for them. Should have been home and hosed by half time.

Ol' flappy bird burge needs to go.

The frustrating thing about Thomas is he does most things fairly well except for the most important skill required to win a football match. I didn't think his performance overall was terrible, but those two chances really should have been stuck away.

I've said enough about Burge. Give Addai the last two games, he can't do any bloody worse.

As for Bakayoko...he was dreadful largely through his complete anonymity. I reckon I only noticed him on the park maybe two or three times; other than that he might as well not have been there.

Oh well. I think a 7th-9th place finish is fair for us. At times though, you can see we can be so much better than we are...

We should let burge not bother going to games like grimmer and brown and just put a random outfield player in goal every half hour

Fantastic performance first half. Should have been 2 or 3 up. Missed chances and a keeper who can’t come for crosses cost us. Should have won that one. Gutted

You don’t miss the chances Thomas did today and has done constantly and win games, we ran the show today but Pompey had two chances courtesy of poor defending and goalkeeping and scored twice. But not that concerned we are well equipped with a couple of quality additions to be a real force next season.

They have strength in depth and subs that can change a game.

We have Lee Burge. Simple as that really.

They've got results, we haven't.

There's no point trying to play like Barcelona if we can't beat teams like Portsmouth.

Depends who leaves in the summer, the current front 4 playing for a full season would score goals

RCC
O'Brien

I don't think this is one to blame on the coach, either the player's confidence is shot or he's simply not capable. Zonal marking doesn't help relieve the pressure much for him, but that winner was an individual error imho...

He isn’t and is improving, I thought it was a terrible signing but can see benefits and he seems better when he comes slightly from the right of centre and seeps it into the other corner like at Sunderland

Speaking of which can someone please compile all of Burge's howlers to a Benny Hill theme? As a parting gift for the end of the season

Such a frustrating loss. We were the better team overall, but Portsmouth deserved to win because they took their chances.

In open play, it was a good performance, Bakayoko was a bit of a blunt weapon today but our midfield played very well. Plenty of good attacking movement, and on another day, we get another chance. Thomas is one of the most exciting wingers ball at feet we’ve had in my time as a supporter, but his composure in front of goal is poor. A better winger scores both those goals and I don’t think he’ll be missed as much as we first feared. If we counted up the amount of clear cut opportunities he’s missed, I reckon it’s close to double figures. It’ll hold him back in his career if it isn’t addressed. Does 90% of the work really well, it’s that last 10% that lets him down!

Our set piece defence is just not good enough. In the last 2 games we’ve saved 2 off the line, and conceded 2 goals. From open play, we contain teams, but our set-pieces we don’t have a club. Burge will take most of the abuse for the goals, and he deserve some stick, but our defenders give away too many free headers. Free headers in the box should be goals — both defence and GK not good enough here.

We need a lot of luck to make playoffs now, so our playoff push is probably over. Despite the disappointment, Robins has done a good job this season and I hope we can build on this going into next season.

Do their homework on teams and more consistent. They knew we’re crap at defending set pieces and crosses into the box and that’s exactly what they did.
