We undoubtedly need better to secure automatics. Most on here thought that would be beyond us this year and play offs were the goal. After all, the summer window had been poor [allegedly]. There are only two places up for grabs and at least four teams in the mix. Complacency, which is rife on here right now, is the enemy.

We only have 4 outfield players of definite Prem quality - Grimes, Wright, Rudoni and MVE. If we are after the autos we have to address that starting with JDS.
Complacency on here is completely irrelevant, i don't know why people conflate the musings of lunatics on this place with what is going on within the camp.

As for Prem quality it doesn't matter as we aren't in it last time i checked  if we go up we'll probably spunk something around the tune of £100 million trying to figure it out.

He was being criticised for not taming Bukayo Saka FFS
He certainly wasn't. I was wondering if the shoeing might affect his confidence coming back after being dropped for the 2nd match! Then people started getting defensive about how nobody else would have done any better etc etc but that was to miss the point completely! He was very wobbly first half on Saturday.

Look over some of the comments on the England thread.

We tried to during the summer, and he's now seemingly 3rd choice.

To sign another left back in Jan we'd have to get rid of 2 of Dasilva/Bidwell/Brau and I just don't see that happening.

There are other priorities to address in January ahead of left back.

That was obviously the idea behind signing Brau but Dasilva is keeping him out the team for now. And he's generally been pretty good this season.

Brau? Brau was not brought to be 1st choice. He's a project player

Going into the season, I thought we needed an upgrade and was hoping Brau was it.

I don't think anyone can argue that so far, he is showing what he's capable of. Top scorers, top of the league and part of a defence that haven't conceded in 5, most clean sheets and joint least conceded. Then again, there were some giving Wilson little credit for his golden glove.

I think people are far too eager to find a negative or express their entitlement.

Some on here just moan for the sake of it, think positive FFS, if you’d have been offered 10 games unbeaten and favourites I wouldn’t have thought it but here we are.
Clean sheets and goals isn’t that what football is about?
Anyway 0-3 tonight PUSB!!

If we lost it wouldn't be the end of the world, Pompy doing well and home record is good, especially against us. If we draw it would keep the unbeaten run going and if it was 0-0 we would keep the clean sheets going. However, if we win it would be fabulous.

Of course teams don't want our maulings and a few of our results have been eye-opening, but as we remain humble and show our commitment we could spring a surprised. 8-0 to us. 😀

Matty Grimes isn't athletic enough to be a Prem mainstay. Undoubtedly one of, if not the best CM in the Championship but there's a reason he was at Swansea for so long despite consistently being the elite of the elite in the Championship.

I agree on the other 3 players but also think there will be some surprises to come.

I don't have an agenda, no beef with JDS or anyone else, I'm not a boo boy I don't want or are looking for a fall guy, I'm just saying it how I see it.
Think that's fair don't you, just as I accept you see it differently to me.
I think that's fair. I guess I quoted your comment but made a more general point about the fact that there are people on here who have an agenda against Dasilva. You must have seen that if you read these pages regularly.

Personally I think Grimes is the one that would be OK in the Prem. He has vision and can ping a 30 yard pass. He had offers over the years at Swansea but was happy to stay until towards the end.

I think quite a few of our first 11 at least would have to get good minutes and a lot of them would deserve it if we completed the job. It's a convo for the summer but personally I'd rather spend our budget, whatever it is, on 6 or 7 of quality rather than spread it too thin. Yes those 6 or 7 would likely be starters, performances permitting, but I would like to think a lot of this bunch would get a chance.

Tend to agree on that recruitment approach. Let’s get there first though!

I'd rather give all the guys a chance in the prem. We're quite a young squad and theyll all improve loads still. Be better equipped when we inevitably go back down. I'd bank the money and set the club up for the next 10 years, you can waste £100m and still get relegated. I genuinely wouldn't hold it against the manager or owner if we ended up with zero points. After the last 20 years, it seems the right thing to do.

Ten players say £5m each plus £2m for a year's wages and you're looking at £70m (at least) anyway on top of the current squad and they probably still wouldn't be competitive! It'll certainly be interesting to see what happens, surely the ambition is to be more than a parachute team if the funds can be found.

No chance we do that, King and Lampard obviously have ambition. We're not scratters any more, we own our ground so we don't need to collect the money to purchase that which was the main reason given by many for taking such an approach if we were promoted in previous seasons. It won't be easy but our owner wants us to be a Prem football club, he's going about it pretty well so he's not going to wave the white flag as soon as he gets there.

You can invest without going crazy. There's players in the squad you'd think could step up and there's players you would say are useful to keep around as squad players.

But if you think you can go up and keep the exact same squad you're asking for trouble.
