If you take a photo the other way you might just about get my old house in it. This is the only day of the year I miss living in Portsmouth!

I don't think that's entirely true PVA.

JDS hasn't been great whilst he's been with us, admittedly towards the back end of last season and in some parts of this he's been a lot lot better but to say he's having a good season is stretching it a bit.

He is having a good season, on what objective measure is he not?

Complacency on here is completely irrelevant, i don't know why people conflate the musings of lunatics on this place with what is going on within the camp.

As for Prem quality it doesn't matter as we aren't in it last time i checked if we go up we'll probably spunk something around the tune of £100 million trying to figure it out.

Personally I think Grimes is the one that would be OK in the Prem. He has vision and can ping a 30 yard pass. He had offers over the years at Swansea but was happy to stay until towards the end.

I doubt very much he had a premier league offer that he decided to stay at Swansea instead of.

I was watching Jordan Henderson playing for Brentford last night and he pretty much performed the Grimes role and ran the game for them.

If Grimes can do similar for a couple of seasons that would be great.

Can't remember the handball, but can remember the trip on Haji Wright in the box, stonewall pen....Ward bottled it!

You'll be telling us he aimed for the defenders head to get the deflections next

Hopefully he has been on a first aid course and can recognise a mortal wound as most of Norwich team should be in hospital

Had to laugh this morning Jamie O Hare who’s a bit of a tosser was saying that Hendo just passes sideways and that long throws are killing the game !

JDS gets a lot of flack for some reason. When he came here in 2023, was our best player in those torrid early months of the season (4 defeats in a row at one point). Playing at LWB ( the role he was signed to play).
Had a few mares post FA Cup Semi Final, but so did everyone.
He seems to be criticised during that spell (under Robins) when teams would ping the diagonal ball over to his side, and exploit his lack of height.
Doesn't happen now. I think that issue was more down to tactics and covering players than any fault on DaSilva's part. Frank has sorted that out.
He has the best first touch in the squad, and rarely gives the ball away.

Yeah these days if there is even a chance of a long ball over JDS Grimes is already in position to cover.

ungrammatical, but I get your gist. I'm going to put in the box marked 'complacent over-optimism'. It's next to the box marked 'Summer window has been crap'

Hmm i thought he was poor on saturday, just seems to get caught out of position a lot and gave the ball away on more than one occasion. Saying that nobody covered themselves in glory in that first half! I just dont think he handles extreme pressure well.

He just needs to get back in his rhythm which has been a bit different for him, I expect and hope we see that tonight,if not we have other options.

If we've got a left footed MvE lined up then great, get him in. Dasilva is a bit short which can't be helped and given that he's technically quite good i'd really like a bit more end product from him, i don't think he has one assist and i'm not sure he got one all last season either. But you have to say defensively he's sharpened up a lot from where he was in parts last season, he's doing a good job.

His only assist I can remember was for Godden at Cardiff. He should have more really given his technical ability

Was down there the other week, late on a Friday night. The section of the M3, I think J10-J9, was closed and we had to divert around. Took about 10-15 mins.

Da Silva and MVE play different roles really. On the left hand side EMC can get to the byline to cross so JDS often stays deeper, whereas the opposite happens with MVE and Saka on the other side.

Its a very specialist and under rated position. Its why England have always struggled with it

JDS is getting coached better and is getting in better positions to defend 1 v 1. He is gaining confidence and at the minute u cant switch him out with the other 4 out of the defense.

But he is not the long term answer and will be targeted by every opponent. Good player, probably a better fella so will hang around. Come Jan i see Bidwell moved on another younger more athletic LB coming in and JDS switching to a back up player. But he is holding his own and i hope he keeps his level up

And I wonder if there'll be a minutes silence for Milan Mandaric tonight?

My neighbour works for the printers who do the Pompey programmes and he's just dropped a couple round. A few pages dedicated to Mandaric.

It's weird as it omits about 5 games between those fixtures including losing at home to Sheffield Wednesday

1:1 defending has never been a particular problem for him, his low centre of gravity means that he's generally pretty good in the tackle and against a tricky winger. His biggest weakness is getting caught blind sided and thankfully that isn't happening as much, some of it down to him and some of it tactical most probably.
