Hiwula, Chaplin both awful

Kelly did well, Thomas scored

Bright, I'm not sure what he's meant to be. Very nazon like based on that game

Overall Robins should be fuming

Missed the game today as away for the weekend but surely a massive 2 points dropped massively missing a proper centre forward hopefully he goes out and finds one this week,

How was bright ? Any upgrade on what we already had ?

Too angry to even post a score on the players.

Just not good enough at all to come out of that game without 3 points.

Good side out on paper didn't go well on the pitch to many off days Kelly the worst one for me just didn't do anything right good strike at the end but hitting the bar from 30 yard doesn't earn you 3 points I'm afraid

Hiwula just has absolutely zero confidence - every time he had the chance he just didn't look like he wanted to shoot. The chance at the end was an absolute shocker.

A lot was good about today. We were patient in possession and if we had a half decent striker we would have won at a canter. Hiwula was appalling but he at least was involved. Chaplin was completely anonymous.

I imagine you’ll get angry responses to this as everyone’s emotions are high but it’s largely true. If we could finish it would have been comfortable. Chaplin and Hiwula were both poor. Worrying that without sterling and Thomas (and baylliss if potential transfer) next season we’d offer very, very little. I know Burge has improved, but he is absolutely shocking at balls coming into the box

Burge 5 (seemed to be rooted to his line at times)
Sterling 7
Willis 6
Hyam 6
McCallum 5
Kelly 6
Bayliss 7
Thomas 7
Enobakhare 5 (too often out of position)
Hiwula 4
Chaplin 4 (3 in first half, 5 in second half)

JCH 5

The pitch was shite, which favoured their tactics. However we should still have won this match by two clear goals.

Burge. 4. Couldn't catch a cold.

Sterling. 5. Gets forward well but his crossing in woeful at best.

Willis. 6. Headed well.

Hyam. 6. As above.

McCallum. 4. Did ok for his full debut, would of been 5 if he could control a ball.

Nobackhair. 4. Don't see really what he offered that the likes of shipley/Allassani don't!

Bayliss. 4. Why did he pass to Hiwula at the end, I didn't expect it, Hiwula didn't expect it. Your on the edge of the 6 yard box. FUCKING HIT IT!!!!

Kelly. 6.5. One of the few that comes away with any credit. He's our oil in the machine. Genuinely starting to believe all the plaudits Doyle got at the back end of last season is down to Kelly. Without Kelly, Doyle looks woeful, without Doyle, Kelly looks twice the player her was last season.

Thomas. 6. Scored, he works hard but for all his pace he runs into corridors all too often. I get the "If he was the finished article" argument, but he drags 99% of shots high or wide. 1 in fuck knows on target is a poor return from any age at any level.

Hiwula. 1st half 5.5. 2nd half 3. I thought he linked up play well and made some good runs in the 1st half. Why Robins insists on putting him on the left is fucking retarded. Somebody needs to bang Robins' head against a wall because he's far too stubborn for his own good.

Chaplin. 4. And that's being generous. I just don't get it. He offers nothing yet players are still getting dragged off/out of position, while he plays 90mins every week!! Fucking pointless.

JCH. 4. Few decent defensive clearances but made no impact to the game at all. Was bullied by their big black CH.

Grimmer. N/A.

Burge 6, due to Wimbledon's limitations not much to do.
Sterling 6, I like watching him play. Offers an attacking dimension.
Willis 7, looked assured
Hyam 7, similarly decent (as always)
McCallum 5, seemed nervous early on which was understandable, grew into the game.
Thomas 7, always a threat. Good work rate. Confidence in possession and clearly frightens defenders.
Bayliss 7, increasing in confidence in central midfield. I really like the partnership with Kelly
Kelly 7, another very decent shift. Makes us tick.
Bright 5, not entirely sure what he offered. But I would say after he was subbed we seemed to lose our shape.
Hiwula 6, ok it was. bad miss but I like his movement in the centre. Even out wide he was taking on defenders.
Chaplin 6, seems to be criticised. But offers a lot in terms of movement. Tidy in possession. Still think we have a player who will do well for us.

JCH 5, pretty disappointing after some storming recent performances off the bench. Our shape and interplay suffered after Bright was subbed as we resorted more to launching it into the mixer.

Nothing was good about today.
Patient in possession, for what end product. We passed it around well but Wimbledon had zero interest in closing us down or putting pressure on us. They were just happy to play 11 men behind the ball. Us passing it well isn't a positive.

In terms of Chaplin. I can move a lot and hit passes to people who aren't there all day.

I probably wouldn't be much slower then him and I haven't run for a year

Chaplin tidy in possession. His first touch is poor so often. He was lucky to not have been sent off today.

In possession? Was he ever in possession? All I seen was him get easily shrugged off the ball every time he had it.
The only time he done something decent in possession he fucked up in the end. When he made the run down the left wing, then didn't shoot, and didn't pull back the cross for the on running JCH and Thomas, he just passed it along the 6 yard box and out for a goal kick. The one thing he almost got right today. Other than that he offered 0

This guy is supposed to be our main striker, he can’t head the ball, he can’t dribble the ball and he certainly can’t shoot on target. £500k Portsmouth must be laughing!

Chaplin was anonymous in the first half, but did set up some chances for others in the second, notably, Hiwula, who completely fluffed his lines.

Hiwula was just awful today. three great chances, all badly fluffed.

Sterling 7
Willis 6
Hyam 6.5
McCallum 5
Thomas 6.5

Kelly is our key player. We need another of him for backup. I wonder if Westbrooke is learning that role.

Burge 5: rooted to line too often. Mixed distribution.

Sterling 7: solid performance

Willis 7.5: his pace saved us a couple rimes. Won his battles well. My motm

Hyam 7: looked good alongside Willis

McCallum 5.5: decent first start. Lost a bit of confidence in his own ability after his first mid control. Will have a big future.

Kelly 6: too much sideways and backwards. Slowing game down.

Bayliss 6: not a bad performance but had to do better when he and hiwula combined to mess up.

Bright 4: not fit. Doesn’t like to head it. Too many touches.

Thomas 7: busy as always. Good relationship with sterling.

Hiwula 4: not a good game today. Not really involved up to the final minute slip

Chaplin 5.5: non existent first half. Much better second with lots of movement but too deep.

Pitch very poor. Need to keep shots down. These are professional footballers.

Burge- 5 lost his head with claiming crosses and looks unconfident with balls into box.
Sterling- 7 looked good on the ball and was a main attacking outlet. Good defensive work
Hyam and Willis -7 both won all their aerial duals and both good on the ball. Willis is our best defender.
Mcallum-6 had a decent game looks to have a bright future. Don’t forget he’s only 17!
Kelly- 7 unlucky not to score two. Sprayed some good passes around and clearly miles ahead of doyler.
Bayliss 6- some flashes of brilliance and some poor moments too.
Bright- 5 didn’t offer anything going forward. Think Shipley would have offered more!
Thomas-7 scored and played well always a constant threat with sterling. Had one awful effort first half though.
Chaplin- 4 absent most of the first half and doesn’t challenge anything unlike Thomas who is a similar height. Better second half but still poor.
Hiwula- 4 slipped over several times today and looked poor throughout the game. Looks scared to shoot. Should have scored late on too!
Jch-6 offered some physicality up front.

Roughly how I'd go with it.

Chaplin to a 4 though and possibly McCallum lower.

McCallum looks far, far too raw. Some reasonable touches but also some shockers. It was clear after 20 minutes that Hyam and Kelly didn't want to play the ball to him despite having all that space.
