Will be kompany for manager
Agree, reckon Vik might get the player one based on also being 2nd in the assists list (as it stands). If Akpom gets past 30 goals in the next week and a half they'll probably give it to him though.

I see Wilder once again hailed Gyok as the best player in the league yesterday. Of course he managed Akpom too. That probably won't go unnoticed.

The voting has already been done. Managers had to give their top 5 players in order. The EFL already know the winner.

How can they be shortlisted before the season finishes?

exactly, what if Robins gets us promoted and Gyokeres bangs in 3 hattricks from the last 5 games.

You know, Kompany may have had more resources than many, but he's still done a good job. Changed their playing style to be more progressive, changed a culture of losing, and utterly dominated the season. It's easy to say anybody could do that, but Norwich and Watford haven't done that this season. The likes of West Brom and Stoke haven't when coming down either.

They could have easily gone a similar way to Swansea on coming down. Owners coming in, popping debt on the club, not really seeming to care or understand what they'd bought... Unlike Swansea, they've bounced straight back.

Though TBF that applies to Carrick too albeit they inherited their respective clubs in much different positions
Yeah, Carrick shouldn't be on there either imo.
He deserves credit as he's turned it around but they had a great squad anyway.

3rd candidate (and 3rd place) should have been Rowett or Lowe I think.

You could argue Heckinbottom has done a good job too, tbf. Sure, resources again, but last season was a bit of a mess, this season has had financial turmoil rolling away in the background - automatic promotion would maybe be a bigger achievement than he'll get credit for. They could have easily gone Sunderland direction.

Agree, they've pissed the league and regardless of the perceived advantages they have it is still difficult to do

They had a huge player turnover in the summer and maybe I'm wrong but it felt like they lost more of their better and established players than a lot of relegated clubs do.

He had plenty to spend, no doubt about it, but had something like 18 players to replace.

And yes they've absolutely smashed it.

Kompany didn’t get the parachute payments, but still spent £40m, a figure the rest of the league can only dream about. Easy to build a promotion winning team on that, he don’t deserve it imo

He sold £76m and had to build a new team
