Seeing as I'm actually at a computer thought I'd churn this straight out, updated for today v Bradford

Updated for Shrewsbury, penultimate one before the season finishes on Saturday. Interesting (it is for me anyway) to see how the actual points tallies with one game to go are very close to the averages in the graphs.

Giving this a bump after seeing a few comments on other threads around points needed for autos/playoffs...could we get this updated for this season? Found it very handy last year @SkyBlueSoul

I was going to say give me until the weekend because I'm busy but forgot how great I am at procrastination. Et voila! It's the same as last year re line colours etc but to recap:

Green - Champions
Orange - Autos
Yellow - Play-offs
Red - Relegation
Blue - CCFC

The total points for each position are the average needed over the last 15 years. Because of Bury's absence I've taken the average, divided it by 46 to get average points per game, then multiplied it by 44 to get the average for a 44 game season. That makes sense to me but if someone sees an error in that method, feel free to correct me!

I think the most exciting thing I can see is that we are 3 points from having enough to avoid relegation (on average)

Have feeling that Champions will be 84+ and Autos 80+ no one broke away which has notmally happened by now!

I think you could be pretty bang on. Rotherham are top with 1.8PPG at the minute and would need 2PPG to hit 84 points which seems about right now they've hit their stride

the only thing is that points needed may be slightly more as
Southend and Bolton arent really getting any points, therefore more for the rest of the league to share around
This seems to be mitigated however by the fact that there are so many teams around us (top 10 or so) . It is quite feasible that 2nd/3rd 6th/7th may be slightly distorted by this

One small thing... Shouldn't the graph lines start at the origin? I understand that no team can have points on the board before the first game has finished, but equally not all of them finish game 1 on 0 points. This might show the early season form more accurately?

Thought it was about time we had another one of these after the brilliant run has continued. I'll try and work on the suggestion in the previous post for next time.

Obviously it's not looking like 90 points will be needed to win the league but I'll stick to these averages for now. General consensus seems to be that 84/85 will be enough, smack bang in between the green and orange lines which is where we are! Even if you do go by these averages, we need roughly 17 points from the last 11 to get 2nd.

Green - Champions
Orange - Autos
Yellow - Play-offs
Red - Relegation
Blue - CCFC

If we lost every game from now until the end of the season it would still be the least amount of league defeats in a season in 23 years.

What a horrible thought tbh

If we win the next game we will be on 67 points.
Draw it and we will be on 65 points. Lose it and we will remain on 64 points.

Wow....

i don't know whether to think that means this season is good, or before this season we have just been consistently horrendous!!!
