I can’t remember another game where 10 men have dominated 11 like that. Think it prompted a Bristol fan to rip up his shirt with his bare hands and post it on the forum

I will die on the hill that the atmosphere suffers because the singing section is in the corner away from the away fans and they love to sing massively convoluted songs that your older average fan don’t know rather than the classics. If they moved behind the goal it would improve 10 fold but they won’t because they’ve all gone a bit cliquey.

Singing about Starmer is fucking stupid. Oddballs.

Agree, but I would say a lot of those that have moved behind the goals have been replaced with tourists, want to go for the atmosphere but not willing to join in with any songs. I personally wanted to move but friends wanted to stay in the corner, so we stayed. I think we've now got an issue in that with the amount of ST holders we have now, it can't be easily rectified.

For anyone who champions this in Coventry, a city which reached out to people in Ireland and the Caribbean islands amongst other places to come to Coventry and help rebuild it after the war. Shame on you, know your history. I hope I speak for most of ccfc, but this intolerance shouldn't be tolerated, and a few flags on lampposts isn't representative of this great city which is heading upwards. No need for any of this in Coventry, come to the game, sing your heart out for the club, use politics only when it's directly related to the club (aka the council and SISU)

Surely with the amount of season ticket holders we have there can't be that many tourists in the ground. We aren't Arsenal or Man Utd. We might have a couple of thousand casual fans that pick and choose what games they attend due to finances, work or CBA but I doubt many attending in the home sections aren't City fans.

Pretty sure Sam used to be referred to as 'her' a while ago (definitely during some mascot charity thing that was on telly). Presumably because the person in the suit at the time was a woman.

I've always seen Sam as quite gender neutral. I mean, they're a fluffy elephant in a football kit.

The atmosphere is very reactive of what's going on, on the pitch. 3/4 years ago it was proactive.

We were fucking flat first half, as was the crowd

Mad to think this is one of the times it felt like we were finally "back". Especially considering I brought 4 mates along and easily bought them all tickets next to my season ticket seat because our row was normally half empty

Well that's the other side of the coin and obviously it's a good point.

Away games are full of the same faces. People who have seen it all. Our away support is good, but it could be better. Let some people who don't normally go bring some energy and excitement. Youre talking about 300 tickets BTW.

I mean really, this isn't about singing political songs then is it, it is about people having a different opinion to you.

Funnily enough, the reason people are voting for parties like reform is not because they are racist or far-right for the most part, it is because of people like you who don't listen and sneer at them, and the politicians that govern us who are doing the same thing.

The comments about 2 tone and our city are pretty cowardly as well. You can be for immigration and integration of the city and at the same time realise what has happened in the last couple of decades is completely unsustainable and out of control. Back in our golden era net migration was running at 10s of thousands and it worked, it's now several hundred thousand or more.

You can cry about these people, but it is those like you and Gary Neville that are completely out of touch with the majority of society, and this arrogance is doing significantly more damage in making them shift further in that direction.

I would like to think we could all enjoy the football, the one break we should fucking get from this sort of shit.

Didn’t hear any political songs today, thankfully. No need for it at all football game, regardless of your political view.

Singers Corner need to focus on getting Cov songs going, atmosphere was terrible today.

We’re top of the league, on a great run of form and just opened a new fans village. So much to be optimistic about, yet zero noise coming from those responsible for creating it.

In certain countries football has always been highly politicised. Barcelona and their symbolism for Catalan independence, the notorious Old Firm, Lazio and their links to fascism, St Pauli in Germany etc etc. In England though we largely managed to avoid it, probably until ‘fuck the Tories’ chants started coming in during the last government.

It's a shame. I used to think that what separated us from most other clubs. Even in the days where the Ricoh was seriously empty, there were always people who kept the atmosphere.

Away from home, we were probably in the top 10 for making an atmosphere. Whether we were losing, protesting, winning or in League 2.

Yeah, that's true. I just don't really have time for it. As much as I certainly think Starmer is a wanker, there's nowhere less I would rather think about it than at the football.

You'll be pleased to know my favourite team to watch here in the Czech Republic is Bohemians, and they're a pretty left wing club. You don't really get any chanting or the like though. Just a good fan zone with £2 pints and everyone is pretty friendly. That's perfectly fine by me.

That’s an interesting observation (not saying if it’s accurate or not) but the idea of opening up tickets to day trippers is a non-starter, there are too many people who feel entitled to a ticket and wouldn’t consider occasionally missing out for the sake of another person getting the opportunity. Which is their prerogative of course, nothing wrong with that, but I think you’re right that it will change the dynamic of away days over time.

We go to football in part as a distraction from 'real life' so yes, I'd rather just worry about Ellis Simms trapping a ball like a cement mixer than anything else in the stadium.

I'm not wildly against a small ballot but I'm saying that as someone with enough points to not miss out...

Away ticket ballots are common place at other clubs. Generally around 5% of tickets or a ballot for any return tickets.

Let's flip it on it's head, let's say we draw a big club in the FA Cup, or get to the play off final, would you be willing to give up your ticket to someone who never bothers?

I only do 10-15 away games a year, some games I don't have a chance of getting a ticket and I'm completely fine with that. Those who devote their lives to travelling round the country for years on end deserve priority.

Futhermore, plenty of away games last season got down to a points tally that anyone with a passing interest in the club could have got a ticket.

Farage is a despicable individual, uses struggling communities issues to whip up hatred and incorrectly convince people he is the solution, when he wouldn't piss on the people of Coventry if they were on fire. Yet (unless he was being paraded on the pitch at half time) I wouldn't ever chant about him. We have a huge repetoire of great songs. Yet even Twist and Shout didn't get sung today, then a sizeable minority chose to sing about Starmer. For the record, I don't like the guy, he's been far to slow and complicent in the genocide in gaza for my liking, but I've got news for you, he's the only one trying to make sure you can get treatment from a doctor, get treatment at a&e, or if you have kids who aren't in private school, trying to make sure more funding is coming their way.

Farage, Badenoch (or non committal, party boy Davey) certainly do not have the interests of the average person, so when you struggle to get a doctors appointment, or have clasess at school with roofs falling in, or your council tax is rising, think about who is your real enemy.

Yes, that's a fair comment, but you don't have to be Einstein to realise they are intrinsically linked. Local lads aged 15-21 are some of the most impressionable of all. The issue is the media narrative in this country is so shocking towards the far right that sometimes that's all they hear.

I dislike Starmer, but perhaps for different reasons as to why the chants today were going around. I think he's a weak human who crawls around to appease the zionist media, hence his undermining of West Midlands police over the ban of the Arab hating, racist violent fans from Maccabi Tel Aviv who should just be banned outright from playing in any country. I am no great lover of Villa Park, but I respect the Islamic communities who have lived there peacefully for years. This is the type of people who the WMP are seaking to block. Starmer shouldn't be involved, but I doubt very much this

I'm very happy to listen and it's actually nice to hear someone who constructs his/her point well. However, if you are referring to the "small boats" they account for a small percentage of immigration, much smaller than you may think. They account for around the 4% of total immigration, they actually have very little impact on your day to day life, despite what politicians such as Farage and Lowe tell you (who again use your false insecurities on this subject to empower then who then in turn would empower their rich mates and leave the majority in the gutter). I'm not arrogant, this is fact. Name one policy reform have that would benefit the average working person in Coventry?

It really has little to do with policy. I think most people are just sick of the mainstream parties and this is all largely a massive protest. A lot of our country is very unhappy at the moment. If you surveyed all Reform voters and asked if they think they're going to improve the country, I doubt a majority would say they think they will with any serious conviction. It is more a case of causing a scene in the hope that someone, somewhere, will do something.

Regarding immigration, yes the boats just scratch the surface, but I was referring to the overall numbers which are drastically out of control, and within contain many people who do not share our values. It is inflaming tensions. It doesn't have to be close the borders versus open borders. Really, a sensible approach is needed and we just don't have it, or even a sensible conversation.

Anyway, as Nick said, there's plenty of this conversation regarding this on the off topic board. Go and jump in there.

Football is for football, and as much as I do think Starmer is a wanker (along with nearly all our politicians) we've got a bloody good football team at the moment, and we should fucking enjoy that.
