RIP John
Me and a few mates were lucky enough to have a chat outside Wembley with John, very friendly bloke.

A Cov legend for sure!

I would like to write a heartfelt tribute to John but I'm too sad at this time.
I know I will blub like a little girl on Saturday so will save the emotions til then.
He gave us so much joy when we never thought City would ever win a trophy.
I loved him like a father x

Would love the ground to be full on Saturday in his honour, even more of an occasion being on TV too to show the viewing public our appreciation!

I wonder if we will play in those new 87 replica shirts against WBA as a tribute.

Anyway.

Snoz always looked like an older fella to me as a child with his bald head and white tufts.

He was 50 in 87 and what, 53? when he was retired off/ binned because he wanted a bit of a cuddle (I can’t remember the exacts, but didn’t he say he was considering retirement as his contract was running out and they binned him rather than beg him( as they should have?)).

Meanwhile, young Mr Robins is 52 in a couple of weeks.

No matter.

Absolute legend has passed.

Didn't t look in great health when contributing to the recent tribute to Jimmy Greaves on ITV so no great shock but sad all the same. Have seen him at a few after dinner events down the years and he dripped genuine warmth and charisma. Not hard to see how he got the best out of the players of 87 and onwards. RIP Snoz.

Great man and a real positive person to be around. What is often forgotten was what a great coach he was. He gave us "our greatest day in football".
It's about time a statue of George & John was commissioned.

Such sad news. Only saw him once outside of football and that was in Waitrose in Kenilworth a few years back. My son was only about 7 at the time and Sil saw him wearing his City shirt said "Play Up Sky Blues!" and ruffled his hair.

Admittedly, my son had a "who the fuck was that?!" look on his face. I told him he was the chief architect of our greatest ever day.

Legend. RIP, John.

Remembering the second half of our 4th round win at Old Trafford in '87. In my memory it was 45 minutes solid chanting of "George & John's Sky Blue Army" - to keep warm as much as anything else - freezing cold day!

Thanks for the memories Snoz. RIP.

It has been genuinely upsetting to hear this today. A fantastic man and responsible for the greatest day in the club’s history, and one of the best days of my life as a 9 year old kid at Wembley. It was my first full season of going up the city regularly with my dad and my brother - little did I know back then how spoilt we were in football terms.

We went to every game of that cup run and those memories will stay with me forever. A true legend who always had city at heart. How he brought the club and the players together at that time is testament to the type of man he was.

He deserves a fitting permanent memorial. RIP Snoz and thanks for everything.

No matter what will be said about this city legend it won't be enough as not only the f.a cup win ,he bought 4 years of good football and mid table finishes in the premier League and banished the relegation zone.loved the team he inherited and motivated.
Loved snoz. RIP snoz.condolences to his family.
He will be a big miss.JOY get the statue built.

I'm sure the club will add one. They've been quick and effective with the flags.

Why not their own flag?

Definitely need a statue of George and John too though. I’d happily donate.

I'd like to see this and the JH one along with some famous Coventrians around the City centre, then it doesn't matter where we play and also stretch longer and further than those of us at the CBS.

One of my earliest memories is sitting on my Dad's shoulders watching the parade through the city when I was three. Will always owe Snoz for that.

His speeches at HR when we were up against it carried so much weight, so it's not a surprise to read what Bennett and others have said about how he worked.

No. Stop with the stupid minutes thing. Everyone forgets in the heat of the game. Do it before the match.
