I can see Eccles making the step up (though I have to admit, I said the same about Bakayoko when we got promoted from L1).
Why Maddison? He has ambitions to play in the Championship.Maybe we can get some bargains from the 3 teams who go down?
Fleming or Edwards Burnley
That young lad who dribbles alot at wolves
Maddison spurs
Jesus or Hudson odoi forest
Tanaka Leeds
Traore West ham
Obviously some prob not realistic but could be some worth looking at.
Consistently is my main issue with them both too. It seems a 50/50 toss up on performance. Maybe even 60/40 the wrong way
It's all about opinions, when I first saw Bakayoko play, I thought no way is he gonna make it with us.
Simms, yes?I agree with the last part , supporters judge players far too emotionally (usually negatively )
In recent years some of our best goalscorers have been given loads of shit by fans
Wright
Godden
Mcnulty
It’s not a suggestion, it’s an expectation. Obviously if I was making suggestions we’d have Prime Maldini on the bench just incase Bobby picks up a knock. That's one crap suggestion geez - players like Lati on the bench in the Prem? Come on
Unpopular I'm sure but doesn't have the flow to his runs like Haji does, frustrating for me.I would be looking for a new left side, EMC would be ok as a squad man but has real limitations same for Dasilva and a left sided centre half.
Hopefully by seeing how Grimes has done Doug will look to sign some players where the sell on value doesn’t matter.
Prem sides won't be playing with 5 defenders and 4 midfielders joining them when we attack. Wright will score goals in the Prem but Simms would struggle.Think? We definitely need a couple of strikers, my goodness a semi retired Prem league centre half wouldn’t really break sweat against what we saw yesterday
Nuff said. Lampards is at the Chelsea/ Man City game....from now on we’ll be shopping at Harrods." (The "legendary" John Sillet)
Surely consistency is less important for a side battling relegation, we'll need 35-40 points to stay up. 8-10 wins plus some draws. Wright going on one of his 5-10 game hot streaks could go a long way to securing that.Good point.
If we have a run of 3 or 4 games v teams in the bottom 3rd we'd all be identifying that as a run we'd need to get points from, we can't afford for them to be going through one of their poor spells.

Wouldn't surprise me either way if he struggles with prem defences or actually thrives with more space to run into against high lines. How confident are you that he'll do that in the PL?

You know what, I wouldn't be surprised if Wright is still suffering from injury and that they are trying to manage itPriority in order
goalkeeper
Striker
Left back
Centre back
DM
2nd striker
I’ve lost patience with wright and Simms

I don't think FL has that much faith in Simms.
Wright just doesn't quite seem his usual self. I know he can be a bit hit and miss, but just doesn't look quite as sharp
But in saying that, he was chasing down balls yesterday okay
I rate him, but of late, he has been very frustrating to watch.
Depends how he recovers from the shoulder amputation in the Summer. You wouldn’t start Rudi?
As confident as you can be. He is a 2 footed striker who has strength and pace. The question for me is will we give him chances to score. We will be playing on the counter attack most of the season so his style of play will help. How confident are you that he'll do that in the PL?

What seems to have been forgotten is how close a unit our players are. They know each other well and how each other play. I can see us keeping our 1st team and adding quality to them unless some big offers come in.
Look at before this season started. We were supposed to have a decent 1st team but nothing else, but nobody has let us down. Next season will be the same. Onyeka has been there and done it. Rudoni, EMC, Grimes and similar will play their part. They will be up against it when playing teams like Arsenal and Manchester City, but they are better than many seem to think.
If he can't get motivated playing in the Prem with hundreds of millions of people watching he might as well retire. This is his chance of making the USA striker role his own.My concerns about him aren't really about his ability more his apllication.
Can he do it, yes, will he do it?
Let's see.
If he can't get motivated playing in the Prem with hundreds of millions of people watching he might as well retire. This is his chance of making the USA striker role his own.
That's Wright, though; he's frequently unplayable or looks like he's never played before. There's not a huge amount of middle ground, either.I rate him, but of late, he has been very frustrating to watch.
Nuff said. Lampards is at the Chelsea/ Man City game.
So? He DID used to play for both so he could just be there to watch 2 old teams of his play
Do you think he was unmotivated, knackered or unlucky? He came back from international duty earlier in the season having scored 2 goals, had Lampard eulogising about him, I thought hes going to fly, and he proceeded to under perform for 2 months.
So yes, youd think he'd be massively motivated, but humans are complex as we know, and I definitely think that applies to him.

And there's the point. That's Wright, though; he's frequently unplayable or looks like he's never played before. There's not a huge amount of middle ground, either.
Tbh, I expect him to be the same in the Premier League; I don't expect him to be out of his depth, but he'll have his poor spells. The difference is those spells will hurt us more.
I expect him to be here next season, but as an option, not guaranteed first choice.
And there's the point.
All players go in and out of form. The more they stay in form, especially as a striker, the bigger the club is that goes in for the player.
10 goals for a Prem striker isn't bad, especially one coming from the Championship. If he played most of the season I would bet on him getting 10 goals or more.
None of us have the answer mate. What I am going by is some of the goals he has got that top Prem strikers would be proud of. He is more than capable of scoring very good goals.Or not 100% fit.
I've settled on everyone of those options at one point or another and changed my mind!
So I don't have the answer to be honest. Though I don't think he's unmotivated.
Simms has improved but he still isn't close to Wright IMHO.And that's why I'm flip flopping on this a bit, we might spend a big chunk on a striker who doesn't give us much more for our money.
Though both Wright and Simms need to be better at getting hold of the ball and taking the pressure off, (Simms has shown some improvement in that area recently).
There's no chance he's not motivated.Do you think he was unmotivated, knackered or unlucky?
Of course, but different people read the game differently. There's no chance he's not motivated.
I get frustrated by the accusations of lack of application or that he's uninterested. His style is languid and he's (despite his size) a stealth striker, not a blood and thunder one, but he's clearly committed to the cause.
