Robins not exactly glowing of Viktor in the interview saying he kept drifting wide and not staying central. But difficult for the lad as he got no service. He needs to play with Max upfront if we’re going to have chance of goals.

Not sure throwing the player straight in before he’s had chance to adjust to our style was the right move. (He needs a few practice matches and may be a run out in the 23s, else he’s not going to know where and when to run)

Putting on a big headless chicken for 45 mins to harass their defenders and chase every ball might have been. Even Baka could do that.

Hindsight, hindsight.

He did not look great at all yesterday but also had limited service and a thankless task - looked very ordinary playing up top on his own so no different to Biamou or Baka our favourite scapegoats or any of our forwards really when we just play one up top!

Hopefully he will improve with games but I would be tempted with our team now to go to old fashioned 4-4-2 and for that Sheaf somewhat harshly admittedly would drop out matchday squad.

Dabo Osti HYam McCallum

O'Hare James Hamer Giles

He kept drifting to try and get some service as at points the attacking midfielders did not provide any service to him or even stay close to him. Also if he drops wide one of them needs to fill in the space he left. Hence why you need to AM with pace and stamina.

Indeed, and you’ll note he drifted out to the left rather often. O’Hare, meanwhile, was operating far too wide at times. He’s most effective when running at centre backs, yet seemed to be preoccupied with their left back.

I have just watched the first 10-15 mins back.

Gyökeres spends a lot of his time running between the centre and left hand side as it appears Shipley doesn't stay in position for very long. He drifts about far too much. At times he behind the halfway line when we are trying to attack.

Gyökeres actually does a lot of work during this time and is the reason why COH had the 1on1.

But by drifting wide to try and create something leaves a gap as no one covers the strikers role.

COH currently plays wide and likes to dart inside, what I noticed is as soon as Dabo gets the ball he comes over to offer support. He is very quick to make a run behind the defence when he needs to or if Dabo loses the ball try to win it back. Shipley for example at times is nowhere near McCallum and doesn't offer him an outlet. But as both players are then vs the left back. They can drop a defender in the space created in the middle and shut out our attack.

COH tends to make runs forward and is always looking up. Shipley made multiple lazy passes backwards when we are trying to attack.

This partly might be due to our right hand side being stronger with Dabo and COH. But at times COH is far to wide, So when the ball is played up to Gyökeres he has no one to pass too.

But the issue with the right hand side is it becomes predictable on what we are going to do. So when we try to cross it we only tend to have the striker in the box. So we just get man marked each time.

So our main issue with the AM's is the both play a completely different game to each other what in turn creates too much space in the middle. what gets over run by defenders. With one up front the striker has no other option to drop/drift to try and get the ball but is shut out.

No criticism of Viktor at all lone striker is the most difficult position especially on a debut, I think he has been a left winger at times so drifting wide to his natural left is likely. We might be expecting too much too soon there’s talk of Walker being ready soon perhaps v Shelf. Wed.which will be a bonus. If that’s not true I think we need to keep Baka for the rest of the season as back up at the least,

If he hadn't he wouldn't have got any of the ball at all. I seem to remember MR criticised Biamou in a similar fashion last season.

Fact is the strikers need more support from the AM's if MR wants the striker to stay central. otherwise we're playing attack v defence for 90 mins.

Think last night MR went a fair bit more off filter than usual
