The BBC one was a shitfest. Got no hope for any of them to be honest

Have to agree. She also doesn’t carry the baggage of being part of the shadow cabinet that lost the last election so badly. Went into this debate expecting Starmer to come out of it best (not that he’s come out of it bad) but Nandy is definitely a yard or two ahead of him and a lap in front of Long-Bailey

Didn’t see the BBC one but to be fair all their Tory leadership debates and GE debates were just tosh.

I am warming to the idea of picking Lisa Nandy and giving her the full 5 years to mature into the role. She’ll get things wrong along the way but with expectations so low that doesn’t particularly matter. Starmer continues to come across as unconvincing.

What a laugh - if Long Bailey wins Boris can sit with his girlfriend in Malibu for 5 years and rock up for the election to get an even bigger majority

What he needs to do is stop being scared of losing. I'm no clearer after that hour what he actually stands for

Was in Bristol earlier this month before the Rovers game and my mate staunch labour said it’s got to be Nandy otherwise they may as well stick with Corbyn,Also said McCluskey and Lavery are deluded and need to wake up and smell the coffee!!

He can do that anyway, Cummings is running the country. Boris is like the Colonel. Just because his face is on the bucket it doesn’t mean he’s out the back frying the chicken.

No one is predicting an RLB win. It’ll be Starmer. It should be Nandy but people will want to play it safe.

Read the twitter thread I posted in the other thread, Cummings isn’t the organ grinder either. It’s monkeys all the way down.

None of them are good enough to win.

Nandy seems to sound like she’s going to do things different but she will just fall into line with the Blair stooges at the first opportunity.

Starmer on the face of it might have the ‘electability’ - but he is seemingly obsessed that the Lab Brexit strategy at GE19 was correct and we weren’t ‘Remain’ enough.

Long-Bailey has the socialist credentials, but she will be savaged by the press - even by the BBC that Cummings is intent on taking apart.

It’s quite frankly depressing..

Yeah famously hate the NHS Brits do.

Super right wing, that’s why the Tories have had to promise shit loads of spending and to maintain the biggest socialist project on the planet to get elected.

None of them will achieve anything anyway. You don't win elections based on values & facts any more, you win elections based on how much shit sticks when you roll out your PR/ propaganda/ social media lying campaign juggernaut, and it wouldn't matter who they decide on, they are unelectable for at least a decade until they also learn to fight in the same way. Corbyn tried to fight based on his 'values' and ended up being painted as a massively antisemitic out of control lunatic, while Boris refused to answer any questions & just laughed while knowing he would romp home off the back of the nastiest, most technologically advanced campaign this country has ever seen. I am no Tory but Corbyn was woefully unprepared, naive, stupid and utterly lacking in any awareness of what he was facing by thinking he had even a glimmer of hope talking about "fairness", while the huge PR behemoth was tearing apart everything he said 24/7. The BBC thing is just the latest example- they want to shut down all lines of questioning. And we're only 2 months in

Thats why I can't see Trump not winning, nobody can match what the people behind him can do in terms of bankrolling a gigantic campaign which doesn't care about facts, only cares about changing perceptions.

If Michael Bloomberg succeeds in buying the Democratic nomination (having already spent $400 million on adverts alone), he could probably match the bankrolling in a billionaire showdown.

Trump is best at throwing red meat to the Republican base at rallies which he has been doing throughout his term. They will turn out in numbers for him and the Democrats need an equivalent who will turn out the vote for them as well.

In fact it’s almost like he’s copying Labour ideas but waving flags and holding pints more often.

Labour were a long way behind in terms of their digital/social advertising strategy. Whoever was in charge should be looking for a new job now.

They all just look so dull

Starmer had a strange startled look when asked a question which given his background was slightly odd

Perhaps Nandy should resort to getting her kit off and asking for a stiff one back at her place. At least the audience might wake up a bit

These ‘gotcha’ questions just help to facilitate the notion that Labour is full of unpatriotic, immigrant loving nut jobs. Not a single question on the NHS last night, but they gleefully answer this shite.

Boris Johnson is actually a lot more 'liberal' than many people think. But he also knows what it takes to win (or at least the people behind him do), and he plays that game very well.

Labour are incapable of doing what it takes to win, they just bang on about their beliefs and values.

You can call Johnson a liar, a cheat, a schmoozer, a puppet and you may well be right, but he wins elections because he paints a picture of what people want to see. Labour are unelectable and will remain so until they learn to do the same thing.

How about the Queen for harbouring him & protecting him, does your support extend to her?

How about Prince Charles who invited Jimmy Saville to provide "marriage guidance" for him and Diana, and is good friends with a notorious paedo religous guy?
