I loved Pickford's long kick that led to the third goal.
England showing Spain it's goals that count, not possession.

What? You mean there is mileage in that old English long-ball game? Allardyce, Wimbledon...all beat the odds if planned & executed well with it.

Whilst wanking over long goal kick take time to appreciate how England also play it out from the back

Great to see we woken up to how big nations need to play

Put Sterling in a position like he was for England in Russia, receiving the ball in a static position where he needs to think what to do with the ball, and he's average at best. He has an inconsistent technique and lacks the football brain to play a deeper creative role.
Last night though he played in a similar position to where he plays for Man City, utilising his pace and direct running. In that situation it's instinctive football, instead of deliberate decisions to be made, getting on the end of others cleverness. In that situation he's very good. He will always miss chances, it's in his nature, but his pace when utilised correctly will sldo always creates chance.

Instinct is a wonderful thing.

I habe said the same with Wellbeck...give him time & space to think - he will most likely miss.

Its only a big game if you actually give a toss what happens in an unneeded tournament. I\d rather concentrate on getting the players prepared for the Euros and World Cup than getting distracted by this.

Except to gain experience in playing against the best...you need to be in the same league. Imo it is a great idea. They are definitely competetive friendlies rather than either a full blown tournament or an out & out friendly

Yeah, agree. It has replaced friendlies with games against much better opposition and added an edge to those 'friendlies'.

yup also in league c and d its great to see smaller nations and their fans have a chance to celebrate wins

be it historical wins like gibralters or just likes of lithuania or faroe islands picking up victories.

finnaly you can really chart a nations devlopment now too, like is bulgaria or hungary managed to get to league b or a it would show the good work being done in their grassroots etc

I think people will really start to get interested in it when the promotion and relegation come to play. If England got relegated you can imagine the Scots giving it loads and then England really wanting to get back up.

At least we're safe in the knowledge that Scotland will never get promoted.

Huge goal in Rotterdam. Holland are 1-0 up against France. If it stays like that the Germans are relegated.

They’re down. Next Summer we’re probably looking at Holland, Portugal, Belgium and either us or Croatia. Belgium favourites atm by some way.

Give it up to uefa, we were all confused at the start but this is so much better than meaningless friendlies.

Still don't quite get the playoffs.

Bottom team relegated and top teams go straight to a semi-final don't they? So what are the play off teams playing off for exactly?

There’s a trophy. The winners of the lower leagues get qualification to the euros and the top leagues win a cup.

Four teams from each of the four Nations League sections will make up the Euro 2020 playoffs so at least one team from each will eventually qualify, but not necessarily the NL winners.

So they end up in the playoffs but they could all theoretically lose?

It's possible yeah. Say if the Dutch won the Nations League but then ballsed up the qualifiers, they'd enter the playoffs along with the next best 3 teams from League A who didn't qualify automatically so they could miss out.

England playing really well here, but they have to take their chances.

Can see us losing this. Need to put one of the gilt-edged chances away.

Can't see Croatia continually allowing opportunities like this.

Sterling guilty again of not making the right choices and we should be a couple of goals to the good.

So annoying. Could see exactly what was going to happen if we didn't take our chances.

Playing well, but fluffing our lines in front of goal.

0-1
