We just arranged a byob, byoc and byof ( booze chair food) in the road nothing fancy 12 houses 2 absent ( one a care worker and one locked down elsewhere ) met two new neighbours . All of us distanced out - no music just chat - was really great several army servers in there and two old dears in their 90s with their memories - not been done before was a pleasant way to while away an evening !

A selfish entry. We were supposed to be flying off to NYC in the morning. Was looking forward to it more so this time because my parents were tagging along. We’re all a bit grumpy now! Been postponed until November. Not that I have much hope with that either. But it’s the only thing we have to look forward to so I’ll cling onto it and hope for a miracle! It is selfish. There are people who’ve lost love ones to all this. Here I am moaning about a postponed holiday.

Other than that though, I’ll echo what’s already been said - the monotony. Work, home, wait for work in the morning, work, home, maybe a trip to the shop if needed, weekend, wait around for work on Monday. We’ve never been a hugging family but I just want to see my mum and dad and sisters and their families, in the flesh, and just hug them. We’ve been doing virtual quizzes at the weekend with them.

In ‘normal’ times people would say life is a joke. I’ll smack the next person I hear say that when normal life returns.

Has anybody noticed that now in a shop you can't overtake or go near people that people are even slower? The other day I watched a bloke take 2 minutes to pick a cucumber and tomatoes.

The tip being closed, particularly in Coventry where social distancing measures can be easily implemented.

Yep! There’s not a lot more I’ve got planned for the day, but I refuse to wait for slow people hogging all the room in an aisle. In this case, they can shove the 2m up their arse.

Shop in Morrisons at Alivis then. Popped in there yesterday - no queue control and not a lot of social distancing going on. Made me think for the first time that I maybe it's time for a mask.

I refuse to go to Mozzies.....their social distancing controls are shite. Tesco has a much better plan in place.... one way traffic.. floor marked out.... proper entry control. Been to 2 now in along Eaton and Loughborough and both good.

Good news for tip fans and people who were disappointed they wouldn't get to visit a picturesque beauty spot this summer!

Made me smile. When Tesco first introduced arrows to steer customers, some old person directly in front of me parked their trolley and was reading all the ingredients of every other item creating a significant log jam in the aisles. Was funny and annoying in equal measure!

Unpopular decision: Captain Tom Moore

Not him as a person, the whole thing surrounding around him.

Don’t get me wrong what he has done is remarkable but he is now bringing out an autobiography and writing children’s books, on top of his song with Michael Ball or what ever his name. He had to jump on the band wagon with a song to get him in the spotlight for an MBE, the family Behind CTM for pushing The marketing etc.

it’s the whole marketing thing that’s really winds me up

Maybe unpopular, but i agree. Fine, give him an MBE or a fucking knighthood if you want, but a military honour such as honorary colonel-in-chief should be given for a military endeavour.

People keep using the ridiculous term "a time of uncertainty" to describe the pandemic.
As if any time is a time of certainty.

I moved house a couple of weeks ago (long protracted purchase, had agreed to buy the house last November).

Anyway, due to having two young kids (and my own free will) I've not joined in the NHS clap on a Thursday - though I do work all day to actually support the NHS.

The old couple opposite mentioned our non-appearance to my wife the other day. What the fuck does it have to do with them?

Ask them who they voted for in the last election and see if they were bothered about the NHS then.

It's getting a bit much now. It's gone on for too long that if you don't appear you get snarled at.

Should've been once only or once a month.

Either way, we all pay our national insurance which is a fuck load more contributory than empty clapping of hands.

I noticed it was very quickly becoming like poppies, the amount of people that don't actually give a fuck apart how showy they can be and that everyone's complying

I live in NY and it's every fucking night here at 7pm. People blowing whistles and shit out of the window like lunatics.

It was novel at the beginning and a nice show of appreciation but now it just pisses me off and what pisses me off even more is when people are giving your dirty looks if you happen to be walking down the road (back from the shop or something) while it's happening. I'm not being shamed into fucking clapping and screaming every night at 7pm so fuck off

It's got quite apathetic around here. Four houses half-heartedly clapping. Might do more harm than good if it carries on, as who wants appreciating the NHS to be associated with an ordeal?

That sounds incredibly unpleasant and unhygenic. Could it spread the disease (I've no idea if you ingest it if it can get through your system intact)?

The BBC Coronavirus Newscast.
....a follow on to the then Brexitcast, where self indulgent BBC journalist sit around jollying themselves but curiously wear headphones for reasons known only to themselves . It's a kind of live podcast but it isn't because its on telly. It's another totally pointless re run of everything that's already been said on the bbc that very week but with jolly journalistic humour. It's not funny. It's cringeworthy .

I may have ranted about this before, but some twat in our village now thinks it is his right, nay DUTY, to broadcast music (but mainly himself) over his PA in the street for an HOUR every week after the 5 minute clap! Simply to get Facebook 'likes'
I don't clap because it's not the way i do things.
I'd love to know what the "exit strategy" for the clapping is - does it just fade away, or what?

Have to admit it was a bit more subdued and half hearted around by me last night! I said the same to the Missus who was even less enthusiastic and she works for the NHS and her response was probably not till lockdown is over.
