If the reported crowd was 8k the actual crowd must have been much lower

PMSL

I would hope most Coventry folk would bin them or ‘forget’ to distribute them!

you make it sound unique that the gate was lower for a cup game in the early stages of the competition, remind me again how many turned up against Crawley?

It’s not a European competition. I’m not sure what it’s the equivalent of though? The Europa or Champions League?

Reckon we'd have more than 8,000 show up for a Europa League group match. Especially if we were giving away free tickets.

The team Wasps played are 13th in their league so the football equivalent would be Monaco or Rennes

The competition in question regardless of what it is isn't taken seriously until the later stages as its classed as a minor competition, most of the teams are made up of young players, those returning from injury, squad players and a few first team players but just like any other cup once you get to the later stages and think you have a chance of winning it the clubs start playing stronger teams.

So like the Europa League then for top division clubs.

Whatever way you want to present it, it’s clearly not the equivalent to us playing Crawley Town

We got 14,000 last time we played against a top division side in a cup competition. And then we took more than you got at home to an away game in the next round.

All while we were a League 2 club.

Top tier rugby club getting 11k average attendance for homes game this season and 8K attendance for a minor cup fixture Vs third tier football team getting 5K average gates and 1K for a minor cup fixture and you can't see the similarity?

No because there’s not a similarity to be had. Crawley Town are not comparable to the likes of Monaco and Rennes.

Only in Wasps world does the Checkatrade Trophy get compared to a European competition

you seem to be missing the point, all I pointed out was the fact that people keep posting on here on how badly they think Wasps are doing by quoting figures but putting it across as if these things are unique to Wasp when in fact it is pretty much the same across the board just on different scales, generally speaking football will always attract bigger crowds than rugby. Wasps have had crowds of 6K up to 30K since they have been in Coventry depending on the opposition and importance of the match so plucking one crowd of 14k out of the stats is hardly indicative of home support.

The similarity is that CCFC and Wasps have an identical amount of paying spectators.

the cup competition is irrelevant as its dictated by the level you are competing in, all i am trying to say is games that are considered less important to the club get lower attendances.

It also depends on how many free tickets are given out.

Also how many away fans are there.

And all I’m trying to say is comparing a game against a top division side to a fourth tier side is not a fair comparison... never mind that it’s a European competition

Totally agree but as none of us know what those figures are it would just be a guess.

You can usually get a good idea from looking in the ground as to how many are actually there.

Then have a look to see how rife the freebies are that week.

Fourth tier did you get relegated?
OK look at this way, do you agree that in a cup competition that the club class as minor they would expect to get a lower attendance than for a league game.

Which begs the question of why Wasps brought into a 32000 seat stadium uhless it was so cheap they couldnt afford not to

Work on that i would say somewhere around the 500 mark but only a guess could be out by 200 either way
