Would take Peter Clarke all day long, a commanding centre half who was a major part of their promotion season

Not sure what fans expect as we have no money to spend big on wages, so players like Moussa, Christie have already set up deals elsewhere and CW will be sold to fund the business. As for next year 50% of the squad will be made up of the U18's of this year and the younger players that have already stepped up, Willis, Phillips, Daniels and Haynes should be ever present. Most of the U18s now are already training with the 1st anyway so the club knows what they have.

SP is in a tight spot with funding but most players know apart from Championship and above money is not flowing in lower league's and sometimes pay cut with contracts is better than no contract... Will be interesting to see what happens to Baker, Adams, Murphy, Webster and Thomas see if they are asked to take pay cuts to stay and players like Prutton, Robinson and Delph would take up offers...

Hope we keep Murphy and Wilson
Thomas worth another year
Think Webster will scrap a short term deal
Daniels Barton Christie going
Not convinced about Adams defensive qualities and he is one who could be out.
Think Marshall will be gone.
Never rated Baker, has moments of brilliance but poor most the time.

Given that SP said next seasons squad would be 11 pros and 11 from the academy how many of the current squad are under contract next season? Will he be needing to offload players we have contracted?

SP never said that word for word.. That there would be 11 of each players, but I would assume of those Pressley would mean:

Burge
C Thomas
Clarke
Wilson
Willis
Lawton
Haynes
G Thomas
Finch
Phillips
Daniels

36 James Maddison - again I think as an academy product who hasn't already been told he's being released, I think he'll stay with us.

37 George Thomas Midfielder - as above.

James and George are both 17 year olds who are just coming to the end of the first year of a two year scholarship and so have another year at least.

No repeat of the bomb squad at Coventry City

Steven Pressley says unwanted players will 'remain involved' until they find new clubs

Coventry City boss Steven Pressley has hinted that there will be no repeat of last summer’s ‘bomb squad’ after telling his players whether or not they have a future at the club.

Pressley sat down with his squad at Ryton today to tell them if they fit into his plans for next season.

He is expected to have told some players to find themselves new clubs as he reshapes his squad, just as he did last summer when several players were moved on as the wage bill was roughly halved from around £4million.

But it looks unlikely there will be a repeat of the decision that saw eight outcasts, including Gary McSheffrey, William Edjenguele, Steven Jennings and Kevin Malaga, forced to train at Broadstreet Rugby Club, away from the first-team squad.

“I obviously cannot disclose exactly what has been discussed with each individual but I will say that all players are clear as to what to expect after the summer and those players not necessarily part of our plans going forward will remain involved with the first team until there comes a point where they may look to further their careers elsewhere,” the Sky Blues manager said.

“Some may be more involved than others going forward but we have had some very constructive discussions between myself, the players and development director Steve Waggott which means we can push on with our plans over the course of the summer and in the lead up to pre-season.”

Pressley, who didn’t meet midfielder John Fleck and defender Dan Seaborne who were both unable to attend due to illness, made it clear he wants to keep out-of-contract goalkeeper Joe Murphy and midfielder Mark Marshall.

“With regards to Joe we have made it clear, not just today but in the past few weeks, that we would very much like him to stay with us,” he added.

“He has produced some excellent performances for us this season and we hold him in high regard but with him being a free agent in the summer he is obviously free to look into moves elsewhere.

“His contract with us, however, runs up to the end of June so we will continue to do all we can.

“We have also spoken to Mark who has done very well since signing a short-term deal with us. We will continue to hold discussions with him regarding his future and whether or not that future lies here.”

I'm glad there is no 'Bomb Squad', it was disgraceful way to treat the unwanted players.

You may think it disgraceful but it was all part of achieving a culture change. I think the culture has changed - do you agree?

Something had to give. I see the impact on the bomb squad players as collateral damage.

I'm not convinced the bomb squad was necessary last year either. Especially when we found ourselves with barely enough positions to field a team and we had the likes of Jennings not even training with the first team (who still could have had his uses for us at the time).

Perhaps one reason why there will be no repeat of a bomb squad this season, in case we don't sign anyone that SP intends to and we can end up with barely 11 players come the start of the season!

Going by 11 kids and 11 pros, I'd say:

Murphy
????
Webster
Seaborne
Adams
Marshall
Fleck
????
Baker
????
????

Burge
Clarke
Willis
Urquhart
Haynes
Maddison
Thomas
Daniels
Finch
Thomas
Wilson

Which gives us 4 coming in and IMO a pretty weak squad.

I wholeheartedly agree. The culture change was required and I think it played a pivotal role in our early season form, it meant the players were under no illusions throughout pre season and hopefully that remains. You only have to look at the players and their respective paths since leaving us.

Treated like shit? still payed their wages, just told they had to train away from the squad as the manager felt they were not on board with what he wanted to do. Jordan Clarke showed there was a way back from it... The reactions of the others merely showed Pressley was right.

What culture change has been achieved anyway?

We've went backwards from last season.

Did forget about Philips, but it's another defender. We're so short in the middle and up front.

Depends on who the 4 coming in could be? If we had 4 Dennis Wise Types who stayed injury free...result!

That however won't happen. Even if we get four half decent players, our sqaud would be pretty good in terms of quality...it's just the depth we'd struggle on. Perhaps 3 season long loanees to top the squad up to 24 to cover for injuries/suspensions?

Obviously The true differential was only 4 points .

Factor In the Shaw temporary shift with Zero points ,two further changes of manager and you'd have to assume a possibility for a further 20 points ,add back the ten and virtually guaranteed promotion .

So without the delay In appointing Robins and the shenanigans then continuation of Robins over the final 12-15 games and all those shit players we've let go ,who knows.

Why oh why oh why??

You can also factor in the wage budget was at least twice double the size last season, we had money to pay transfer fees and wages for decent loan players, which meant robins could bring in who he wanted regardless of 9-10 signings being already made 2 months prior.

Hmm it's interesting that you've kept the 10 point deduction on the 2013/14 season, but not factored it on to the 2012/13 season.....
