It should be in our control, player in contract and with years to run. Should be a straight no.

But as always, agents get into a players head.

Would hope that any of the targets understand where we're going. And the Premier League must be a grander option than Eredivisie.

Backwards move for him and us they don’t have the money to buy him. Maybe when he’s in his last playing days.

He want to play in the Premiership and that’s with us next season.

Not sure what the pull of those big teams in the Netherlands are like for the natives - but I feel like Milan can do so much better after another season. Premier League awaits for him I feel

surely we would be asking for 15m plus for MVE, not 8.6m

It's all over Twitter as well. This isn't a SBT exclusive.

It’s the typical lazy journalist tactic of finding a price quoted in foreign media (€10m) and just converting direct to pounds. There’s no way on earth we’d let him leave for that little.

I’d doubt it, another good season here and he’ll be in demand from better clubs with more money to offer.

Ajax paid €23m for Calvin Bassey after a year at Rangers, surely that sets the precedent for the transfer fee here.

I can't see it happening though. If PSV sell Teze they still have Dest to come back from injury at right back. Feyenoord look absolutely stacked in that position. Ajax also have Rensch & Gaaei there.

Minimum £15m, he’s a top player, already smashed up the Eredivisie and turned down Ajax and PSV to come here why take the backwards step yes they can offer European football and are bigger clubs but the pathway to the PL here is undeniable

MVE is class and I'd be gutted if he left, but a few things are in our favour here, long contract, serious promotion ambitions and if he were to leave you just know that Doug King will get the best money possible for him and then we'll spend it. Got to be looking at 20 mill+ for him easy, I hope we stand firm, if we don't go up we could be losing a few key players next summer.

Doug King should give MVE a pay rise and a Contract Extension.

Can't see this happening even with the pull of a Dutch cheese selection

Hugely overrated anyway - all the same texture and tastes like American plastic cheese wearing clogs

In Amsterdam on Thursday. I’ll graffiti some anti-MvE stuff about near the Cruijff Arena to scare him off. “We hate TikTok, fuck fist pumps” that kind of thing.

Agree completely, £8.6m is way too cheap in my view, I was thinking more £14-17m, and I think he’s genuinely worth that. I get that we can reinvest the money but it’d be poor business if we only got around £8m for him.

I don’t think we’d sell for anything less than 10 million GBP, let alone Euro!

Going to Ajax/Feyenoord would represent progress for his career in the long term and doubt either have the financial clout. There will definitely be Prem teams interested in signing him next summer if he maintains his form this season.

Just paper talk from the Dutch side to try and tempt him back. I don’t think it’s his agent trying to drum up interest to be honest. Not yet.

Just seems odd the article says it’s “set” at £8.6m, maybe I read it wrong, is that us that’s setting it or the buying club?

It would be crazy to consider selling now. Another season with us, with him on the trajectory he is currently on and he’ll be worth more than double that fee.

Unless we’re offered silly money would not even consider it. If we were made an offer we couldn’t refuse then I’d speak to him say we don’t want to sell but if you want to go - fine and the reinvest. That is the model we have.

MVE has 3 year left on his contract and he's worth far more than £8.6m. This looks like a journalist story to fill a gap in their daily quota for publishing.

Not according to the fan forum at the Tavern tonight. ‘Big interest’ in Sheaf and MVE. Though I take the comments with a pinch of salt considering who said it.

Hadn’t read that, could it be a clause in his contract, similar to the Vic situation at Sporting.
