Is he? He's looked all over the place. JDS' best defensive asset is 50:50 tackles, his low centre of gravity makes him pretty strong in them

Hmmm I don't think that is JDS' best asset at all, or at least I see little evidence of it. To me his best asset is keeping possessio, through safe, bland, negative passing. That wouldn't be so bad if he kept the passing tempo, but he often kills it and send us backwards.

But he has looked better this season without pulling up trees.

Brau has looked off the pace so far which you would probably expect where he has come from.
New country, new club, new manager, new style of football.
I expect all new players to take time to get up to speed, although Grimes just came in and did it. Even Vic and Gus took time to reach peak form.
I would be a little concerned if he started against Norwich. If JDS is injured, it is Brau, Bidders or KKH as an outsider.

Grimes had played hundreds of games in the championship 😂

Dasilva was in the 90th centile or something for tackles last season. Bidwell, who seems to have a reputation as a tough tackler, was 3rd centile!

People just see what they want.

Some people just never learn.

When we sold Gyokeres and Hamer we were supposed to have wasted £35m on players nowhere near good enough. It took them time to settle in, get used to the speed and strength needed in the Championship and to learn how each other play. Grimes is the only player for years I can think of that just slotted in and was good from the start.

How about letting Brau settle in and get used to the pace of the Championship before deciding he isn't good enough.

Absolutely!

Torp didn't set the world alight when he first arrived but look at him now. Although, over the whole season, I expect Rudoni to be our best player I would say that Torp is the best so far. He's a cracking find for us.

Give Brau a chance. I like what I have seen of him so far and hold high hopes that he will be a good player for us.

Agree with the general consensus of giving players a chance to settle but Torp scored a belter on his debut :)
Cup at Sheff Weds I think.

Da Silva has been our best left back since Lampard came in and it’s not even close. Bidwell has always had this somewhat strange ‘cult hero’ status. He’s always just been a solid player for us, nothing more and nothing less.

JDS's best quality is in the opposition half around box and his crossing. Good first touch and skillfull. It's his positional play defensively that was a problem last season but last 10 games he seemed to have improved that. I worry if good teams target him though.
Him and Brau should give us strength in depth once Brau has settled in.

Of the 13 defensive metrics last season, Dasilva was better than Bidwell in just 4 of them. And two or those are ground duels which includes both defensive and offensive duels, which will be skewed as Dasilva dribbles and Bidwell doesn't.

So Bidwell can block, clear and head stuff. Dasilva can intercept and tackle. The team’s defensive outcomes are a bit worse with Dasilva, but he’s much better on the ball.

That’s the choice. NB I see the stats are from last season, and Dasilva seems to be improving his all round game.

Bidwell is a good type of player as backup. Never moans, trains hard and is always ready when called upon. As you say yourself a solid player for us. But many seem to want better and expect them to be the professional he is when they don't get chosen for weeks. At least we know we can rely on him whenever called upon.

How do you know he never moans? do you know him personally?

Unfortunately with Brau I fear it will be never. I’m unsure, looking at his pedigree (20 odd Sunday league games) and his performances here both in the Championship and against inferior opposition in pre season, how anyone can think differently.
From previous experience going back years from new signings? 🤔

How do you know he does?

Bassette was said to be a problem. He is now not with us this season. Bidwell has always been close to the 1st team with Lampard.

I see you're at it again. Each time I've posted something today you've come straight in with a comment with no substance yet you say you never do such a thing. I hope you're still enjoying counting your 'like' percentage without coming out with anything worthwhile.

What signings have we plucked from La Liga 2? What are the examples?

If you pull out Gyokeres, I wanted him signed straight away:

Assumption? Lampard plays players that work hard and is part of the team. He plays them players. This isn't an assumption. He has stated so himself.

You stated the opposite to what I said without the slightest bit of evidence. This is an assumption.
