Lampard confirming BTA felt the hammy.

Tatsu is a bit dazed after being hit in the face by the ball

Well I wouldn't have had any complaints if they'd gone ahead, they will not play that well again all season.

Can someone do that % predicted promotion things after x amount of games, compared to teams from the last 20 years? @shmmeee - think it might have been you?

I'd imagine now we would be about 80% to win the title. It was mid 70's before this game.

FL dropped him. The lad has potential but is still learning which I don't have a problem with. But he isn't at the level of most of our squad yet.

So happy for Simms. Let’s not forget he’s been on goal scoring runs before - the way this team is going, he’ll end up with 31 in 10, or something.

And to think, he did not play one minute in the playoffs!

Im not sure you get that performance from him tonight if you sign Bamford. Psychologically Simms would be looking over his shoulder but he knew it was on him tonight and his confidence/all round play was like his first season here

There's risks with a small squad and they might still trip us up but there’s also benefits. Everyone’s involved regularly and staying sharp

This season Simms has looked better. The underlying data suggested there was much more to come from him this season and he’s proving that. His movement in the box has always been good and we’ve been better and creating chances this season.

He was unlucky to lose his spot after Pompey away.

I would take Lampard’s and his coaches approach to football matches as my first option, above others. Particularly at this current time.

Wow! What a game!

Middlesbrough massively upped their game tonight compared to recent performances, as expected though with most teams doing the same now when playing us.

I felt for Thomas with the OG, but always felt like we could go on and grab something, even though we were under pressure. There's just a feeling about the team this season.

I thought Lampard made some smart substitutions tonight, at the right times as well. God we have missed Rudi, both he and Allen made a difference, Allen's hounding right till the end and Rudi's play at the top, brilliant.

BTA pulled up sprinting back towards that corner, saw his hand go in the air straight away, looks like that could be hamstring. Got to feel for him if it is. Thank god Rudoni is back on the scene.

Thought Kitching and Simms were both brilliant tonight, Simms MOTM for me. I'm really pleased for him. I said before that good coaches take what they have and develop them to be better, this is exactly what we have been seeing all season. The whole team is different. Even when a player is having an off game, others around them are working tirelessly to make sure heads don't drop.

Loving every minute. PUSB

Fair point on Conway, equally Simms was clean through first half and it took a brilliant last ditch tackle from Ayling to deny him. The goalkeeper is as part of the team as anyone else so I don't put that quite in the 'fortunate' category, it's what he's there for.

But fully agree with the second half of your post, it's been done to us countless times in this division.

I'm not taking anything away from Rushworth. If anything I'm saying the vast majority of GK's probably wouldn't have saved that effort. We're fortunate that Conway ballsed up his chance though. 9/10 times he would've buried that.

The lack of urgency from us during significant periods was frustrating to watch. They're not exactly the most ruthless in front of goal and have struggled in recent games which has shown and we didn't need to be so penned in. It put unnecessary pressure on our backline which often looked panicked and disjointed when they were pushed back and the likes of Hackney got in behind our midfield.

It was always going to be difficult for them to keep the ball out the back of their net though even despite their excellent home record and solid defence. After about 70 minutes their midfield completely dead on their feet which helped open up the game massively.

The difference that was obvious tonight is we have goalscorers in our side. Get the chances and we invaribly score.

It's the latest in a series of moments now where it makes me now pretty sure it's our season. Opposition players getting sent off on or just after half time (WBA, Watford), stunning individual goals from low xG chances, opposition players fluffing their chances, the headstart granted by the relegated clubs...when it's your season, these things just seem to fall into place.

If we win at Deepdale pound the gavel, it's done.

Whilst we were poor, we only gave up 1 big chance which Conway missed. That was the momentum shifter. Aside from that, nothing of note was created because we defended very well.

Boro had lots of possession but they did not produce anywhere near what we did. We had 20 shots, 8 on target compared to their 11 shots, 2 on target.

I feel a bit like teams that win the league go through phases,

1. Start the run and surprise teams
2. Embed a winning routine
3. Become a team to beat
4. Get carried along by their own aura
5. Champions

We're getting into 3

It's extraordinary.
When we have injuries or suspensions, the replacement players just slot in to the formation, and we carry on scoring and winning.
