One vaccine reduces infection by 67% and two by 90%. The only problem we will encounter is variants from abroad. Possible but not likely from friends I know involved in various parts of the process

If everyone is vaccinated I don’t understand why making everyone wear masks even outside and distancing are required. If that’s the case we’ll be doing it forever

I suppose the argument is something like

not everyone will be vaccinated
A percentage who will be vaccinated will get infected by those not vaccinated
A percentage of those will get po
A percentage of those will die

Washing hands
Keeping distances
Masks on face

these mitigation measures will reduce infection

They’ll be a number of infections and deaths that won’t overwhelm the system and mean other work can catch up and we are possibly there now and will be much closer as a higher percentage of us have had two vaccinations

Over to the experts coming to a consensus on how we progress but I’m very optimistic

I am talking about the scenario once every adult has had or at least been offered two jabs. If you still insist on restrictions forever then really you disincentivise people getting them.

Potentially makes no difference to me but that’s me. If there’s no spike with trial events things will get back to normal very quickly in terms of outdoor crowds

I honestly can’t see why not, unless a new vaccine resistant strain appears and I don’t think we’ve seen one yet.

We’ve opened schools without a noticeable bump, and now retail and outdoor hospitality. I doubt stadia will be significantly worse than those.

outdoor is relatively safe
outdoor with people facing the same direction is even safer

I dont think we will be at 100% more for the logistics, but can certainly see 50% at the start of the season

I think the time has come for allowing drinks at seats, as this is surely a safer way than having hundreds in the concourse - and we therefore need to come up with a better way of making this accessible for high turnover - The old pie and tea men who used to walk around highfield road as an example

At some point you have to accept that there are risks but we have to live our lives. Once we have a fully vaccinated population then if it flares up a bit it flares up a bit. The NHS should cope so we should be able to live our lives. We can't let small pockets of this terrible illness keep us from everything.

You seriously think restrictions will be lifted on June 21st? I admire your optimism. This thing is by no means over yet, I would expect we will start the season with 25% capacity limit, maybe a bit more if we are spectacularly lucky with infection rates this summer. I don’t think we’ll see all restrictions lifted on capacity until we’ve managed a Covid-free winter. I would be delighted to be proved wrong, but Covid events in large areas of the world at the moment make it likely that we will be affected over the coming months (especially if the government cave in and allow foreign travel in the summer).

I don’t see why not, more tickets will be on sale after June 21st that I’m certain of...minimum of 50% of the Ricoh will be open for sale

Whilst I’m hopeful vaccines will mean we get back to normal I’m not convinced they’ll be lifting social distancing measures on the 21st June.

Whilst I think we’ll all be offered our first vaccine by end of July that still means we’re not fully vaccinated until end of October based on the 12 week wait between doses.

At that point we’re into flu season and a combination of unvaccinated people and normal winter flu will put pressure on the nhs.

I think face masks, rule of six and 1m+ will be with us for another year.

I can see us going to 33% full stadiums but 50% and above feels unlikely.

I’m pretty sure that’s risk averse and is in line with what Mr Boddy is thinking. I think it’s too risk averse. 50% plus seems absolutely possible

The timetable for vaccinations would mean we reach that point sometime in October doesn't it. So if that's going to be the key to opening everything up then we won't be at full capacity at the start of next season.

That’s a possibility but as things stand everything can be full capacity from 21st June no?

I could be completely misunderstanding that.

You are correct ... effectively back to normal. (driven by the data zzzzzz)

If nightclubs can re-open fully im sure an outdoor venue can.

Two doses won’t make a huge difference TBH, I’d expect the numbers of people who have caught COVID at some point is higher in the younger age groups (less cautious, more social, more likely to not be dead), so a fair chunk will get full protection from their first dose.

Deaths will be way down, middle of May all the vulnerable will have had two doses. I can’t see the NHS getting overwhelmed again without a new strain appearing. Seriously doubt we’ll have lockdown in August.

My local club here in the US opened up for 40% capacity this past weekend and it was fine. Plenty of space.

My guess is that we will be back to full capacity by the end of the summer. Once everyone has been given the opportunity to get the vaccine, you have to ease up the restrictions - even if there are idiots who refuse it.

Got my second Moderna vaccine this week. Holy hell. Side effects knocked me down for a 6 hours or so a day later. I have never had something come on so quickly and then dissipate as quickly as well. Massive headache, body chills and aches.

If transmission through fomites basically isn’t a thing, does hand washing matter (more than normal hygiene)? Anyone know?

The research on this supports hand hygiene measures still, but yes fomites were debunked a good time ago. By far the most effective are masks and ventilation.

Another 2000 available from Friday

NEWS: Ricoh Return Membership Phase 2 available!

Coventry City can confirm Phase 2 of their Ricoh Return Memberships for the 2021/22 season!
www.ccfc.co.uk

Don't think they'll sell out very quickly if the priority is less than the initial 8000, but hopefully that won't matter by the start of the season

At the risk of going full turn turtle on this , I'm getting a feeling of general preference within govt to maintain restrictions as a form of cover .
Really surprised how he's kept the dissenting side of his party quiet on this.
Can't believe how I'm becoming understanding of some of the nutjobs who've been out protesting around the creeping advance of restrictions and civil liberties.
There are still 3M people in our society who are having their ability to earn a living unprotected by any of the schemes set up to protect their incomes or business.
