Meeting Place for Fans (1 Viewer)

When we were trying to get the Save Our City thing up and running we held the meetings at Hen Lane. There were some people who mentioned that a more central location would be of benefit rather than one out of town near the Ricoh. So the question is where would you hold supporters meetings, forums etc that is more central for people to get to? Any suggestions welcomed. Ricoh itself? Hen Lane? ROAC club on Foleshill Rd? Where?

Why do we need supporters meetings for the sake of it?

If there is a specific agenda as in the SoC campaign I can kind of understand it, but the group has no power and what can be said by attending that can't be said on an on-line forum?

I would say that a pre-defined list of questions could be distributed on line. You will get better responses, better turn-out, no fear of people not wanting to stand up and be counted or being shot down in flames for disagreeing with the popular vote and no travel costs incurred.

Surely fans forums unless a player or manager is to attend were just a pre-internet thing.

Exactly, a webinar would surely do? Happy to set some sort of webinar up through here on a date / time where people could put questions forward in moderation.

I can't think of many other club's fans who would be happy with their players out smoking and on the piss whilst the team are facing certain relegation.

I didn't realise there was so little self-respect and passion amongst our fans towards our club.

Sad state of affairs when people would rather sit anonymously behind their keyboards firing off opinions than actually get of their butts and actually joining in, interacting with other fans, enjoying the crack, having a laugh, sharing ideas, having an argument even etc. Are Cov fans really so apathetic that they cannot be bothered to put a tiny bit of effort into trying to effect the way their club is run, is it such an effort to actually leave the confines of your abode and meet other fans?

I think it would be more a meet up for a beer than anything surely?

Would a few fans going for a beer and talking about the club really effect the way their club is run?

Its not about being anonymous its about having as many opinions as possible from people with the desire and ability to express them so a balanced opinion can be formed.

I'm sure ost of us have a drink and the craic when we go to games or go out with our mates. You know, real friends from outside the cyber world.

This is why people want to get involved. This discussion hasn't gone as you planned so, again you've posted about apathy, lethargy and laziness.

In the age of the internet, surely this type of forum benefits from the opportunity for everyone to get involved. Don't make it exclusive to those who live local. Give a voice to everyone. From the supporter who lives far away, to the immobile, to the guy with great work and family commitments. We all deserve a voice, so instead of insisting on it being in a social club, why not embrace the free technology we have available to us.

The internet is a powerful thing. Ask Rage Against The Machine.

Surely it would depend what the meeting was about wouldn't it? At this moment in time all I am asking is for suggestions about a physical venue.
Obviously going forward there will be a variety of methods of communication including e-shots, radio, tv, fans forums, internet forums etc and a webinar would be a great one, maybe some way of combining a live meeting with a cyber one would be ideal.

I think personally it makes sense to have it near to the Ricoh or even in the Casino? There will always be people who moan about it being too far!

One of the reasons given why gates are so shite is because the Ricoh is such a bugger to get to for many fans! Maybe on a match day or failing that...how about Highfield Road!?! Nobody ever complained about getting there ;-)

Is it really that much difference from HR to the Ricoh from another perspective? I can't complain as it is walking distance now but I mean for out of town people?

The parking is an issue though, can't just leave it outside somebodies house now :(

I think it is for many, particularly those that don't have a car and have to rely on public transport! Of course it all depends where you live but I think this is a whole new debate! Personally I would think somewhere central...maybe Club Heat? ;-)

Maybe you could set up a supporters protest group, call it, I don't know, Save Our City 2?

Then you could get ousted, and set up a splinter supporters protest group, maybe Save Our City 3?

What a fucking petty, childish post.
At least Jan tried to do something to get the vermin out of the club. I would ask the lordship, what the fuck he has done to get SISU out,!!!
People who sit behind there computers making spiteful remarks about someone who TRIED to make a diference, make me sick and ashamed to be a skyblue fan.
I have'nt done fuck all yet about the SISU out campaign, but i would never lambast someone whi tried.

Thanks for your support Rev but its no skin off my nose - if you put your head above the parapet you will get shot at by all sides. All are entitled to their opinion, after all that's why we come on these forums and have meetings.

We are working on something at present - not a splinter group, not the Peoples Front of Judea or the Popular Front etc, but more along the lines of taking over the dregs of the Sky Blue Trust and forming a proper supporters club which amazingly enough for a club of Cov's size doesn't exist. Then together we can have some say in how the club is run, holding the owners, be that SISU, Hoffman or whoever directly to account over the way they act and not just moan about it on forums. I still want SISU out but also want something longer term that will represent supporters now and in the future - ideally with some form of legitimate board representation etc.

Would the clubs owners listen though?
