The point I was making Nick was that as coming back to begin plying his trade in coaching (if that's the avenue he goes down) therefore for me, having someone from Coventry gives me more hope that they will put 110% in and thus many many years down the line having him as a Manager?

If thats not the avenue he wants to pursue he can f**k off:claping hands:

A big YES for me - stats don't lie - better than a bench warmer

Surprised they haven't offered him a deal. I like McSheff. Good little player at our level.

10 goals and 18 assists. Lets sign him up then. As a bonus he's a local boy.

Don't mention the local boy thing, it holds absolutely no weight whatsoever.

Lets get Pressley back as manager, he is an ex player and used to get loads of transfers across the line. Do you do your make up in your rear view mirror?

Most definitely would not take him back definitely not, been their done that now, move on, with fresher pacier players.

Will most likely join the pompey revolution in league two.

It certainly didn't when Scunthorpe beat us after Johnson was sent off and McSheffrey was acting like he had just won the world cup.

I don't think the local thing means anything really.

I want players here who are ambitious and here for the right reasons, not those for whom we are a last resort!

I'd have him back as a squad player as he's experienced, knows the club inside out and had a good season at Scunthorpe.

We haven't got anyone on the left. We haven't got anyone in our squad with his stats from last season. Worth a year's contract at least.

If he'd never played for us would you seriously view him as a positive signing?

A midfielder that did better than any player in any position that we had last season?

I would try and bring him back on a pay as you play deal. We need his goals and assists.

Does this not remind anyone of the whole Carl Baker thing? Sheffers has a quality season, contributes directly with 28 goals, and is being released? Maybe he is getting on a bit and maybe he was dreadful for us the 2nd time around but, people were complaining we didn't take Leon Clarke back and he hasn't played for 18 months?
Imo i'd offer him a 1 year deal if the price is right, would I be happy if we signed him, relatively yes. Will I complain if we don't no because I trust TM.

If he'd scored 1 goal and had 4 assists last season I wouldn't be interested in re-signing him. The fact that he can still cut it at this level and the added bonus that he knows the club leads me to the conclusion that he would do a job for us still

I spoke to a work colleague who is a scunny ST holder, apparently sheffers rejected a contract deal (someone else did also but cannot remember their name!) so they think he is lined up elsewhere. They did want to keep him but i think there was an element of greed in play here..

Greed? Or the chance of one last pay day on the back of an Indian Summer? It is worth looking at what players achieved last season, but the real trick is to spot what they can do next season.

Bled the club dry for years during 2 spells-no thanks! Limitations always got looked over because he was from Cov.

Now, I don't get this kind of thing. He certainly didn't bleed the club dry and was a great player for us. His stats don't lie. I think he got it in the neck more from fans because he WAS from Cov if anything.

And if you heard we were being offered a player with stats of last season 10 goals and 18 assists and could get him cheap on a short term deal, your answer would be?

I mean, if only we had a midfielder last season with 5 goals and 10 assists he would of got player of the year
