Is it time for it’s own thread? This subject is creeping into multiple threads (even the recent Burge thread).
My opinion is maybe there’s still room for both. They’re very different players. I love Baka’s new found enthusiasm this year but how often have we autopsied games and rued missed chances. Max sure knows where the net is.
Bottom line is let’s support both and trust MR to make the right decision for the team.

Honestly? I think they are both decent assets, but not at Championship level.

League games

Baka 11 in 54 in league 1

Cup and other. 2 in 15

5 assists in 69

Minutes played 3572

Biamou 9 in 62 in league 2 and 1

Cup and other 11 in 18

8 assists in 80

Minutes played 3991

I can't provide heat maps but I'd imagine Baka puts in alot more work

Argue away

Baka is the same player to the one who first Came in He’s hardly progressed much with all that training he’s had I don’t see him or max being here past this season

I have so much love for Max and I'm not sure what his capability is given game time but I take Baka because of his age.

Hard to disagree with that. Is there room for both to play a role?

For reference, matty godden has 16 in 35, a goal every 158 minutes... A goal every 128 minutes in the league

Biamou in league.. Goal every 305 minutes

Baka in league... Goal every 244 minutes

Horses for courses !

Baka for his energy and running if we need it and want to stretch game.

Max for his strength and to ruffle opposition defenders if needed.

Really like both players and with max you feel he is giving everything and playing at maximum of his ability, but with Baka you Just feel could do more as not at extent of his potential. just hope he’s not one of those players who you think is about to come good, so keep playing him, but never quite does. Would be great if he can do it in championship but until them I do feel max has earned more game time than he gets currently.

Neither are out and out goalscorers, they do still exist... Take troy deeney as an example.. Watford legend.. Career record of 1 in 3.5 games.. Deeney obviously superior to both but you get my point

There's a modern misconception that all forwards have to be Ronaldo esc

For me both are strike partners. Neither are a Walker or Godden out and our goal scorer but in a full season might get 10-15 rather than 15-20.

Given that, it’s about what else they bring to the table. Bakas work rate, link up play, defending from the front, pace and height all put him ahead of Max for me. Add in his age and it’s a no brainier.

Every 196 minutes 22 appearances 4 goals ... Baka stays the same as he's only ever played in league 1 with us

This indicates biamou performs better when he comes on, it's an average of 35 minutes a game

One scored last night and one “striker” didn’t put himself forward for a penalty shoot out. Tells you all you need to know really.

I couldn't disagree more with this.

I will admit I was one of few who liked Baka from the start, I thought he had something about him and some decent technique. But there's no doubt he was very unpolished and didn't look like he would make it here.

But he's twice the player now. He's faster and stronger, more physical. He's got a really good touch, and is excellent at one touch lay offs when it's played up to him.

Whether you think he's good enough or not is one thing, but to say he's the same player and hasn't progressed is just so wrong.

Baka has been and always will be a comedy figure of a player. Some goon made a song up about him “playing football the offside way-20 goals” as a bit of a dig and now the club have even joined in by giving him the no 20 shirt.
I think that has more undermined him really.

They are both good enough to be our 3rd and 4th choice striker this season.

For those saying neither, who do you expect to bring in who is better and happy to be 3rd choice in a system with 1 upfront?

Biamou's is worse because it took so long to break his duck. Whats his stats since his first league goal in league 2?

For me neither are championship level, and both are very different players. Biamou holds the ball up better and looks the most composed finisher, but Baka runs around a lot more pressing. The one thing that is evident with Baka throughout his time here, and was evident again on Tuesday night is, he doesnt have a football brain. He worked his nuts off Tuesday but too many times his touch and decision making was poor, and he's 24 coming up 25 in January with nearly 200 first team appearances, we need to stop talking about him as if he's a youngster.
