Tbh looks knackered to me. When he sprints to close down it looks like he's not at 100%. Not surprising considering his return from injury 8 weeks earlier than expected. Rested on Tues for sure.
He's doing a job. Only thing that annoys me is the "must defend him at all costs" nonsense that isn't afforded to other strikers.

I agree to a point I am hoping this Ryan Giles addition will give us the pace and power I think we could do with, he’s a six footer, on the left hand side and gives Robins another string to his bow.Liverpool are way ahead in the league. It's a really odd comparison. We're fighting for automatics. We're playing well, but we could be doing better, moving some of these draws into wins. There is nothing wrong in looking at the team and debating where it could be improved.
Whilst we are hard to beat, if we miss out on autos we will be looking at some of these draws and dropped points and our lack of goals to kill off teams will have been a major cause. If we just miss out on play offs, it will have been a failure.
No one is hating Godden, nor are we deluded or negative.

See now, thats fair, but calling him "shit" not so fair.I would agree with that.
Thay being said, we should be allowed to criticise a player if they're off the pace a bit.
I like him a lot but he was poor yesterday.
What does a £750k striker look like ?We were told he was a bit 'feast or famine' when he joined and he goes on purple patches like consecutive hat tricks then nothing for weeks. If you consider those two hattricks it means he's only scored in 5 separate league games and also has a few penalties to his name. As we're still doing well and getting results it's stopping the focus on him. Isn't the biggest so not much of a threat in the air but even his touch has seemed poor recently. Runs around a fair bit but offside an infuriating amount.
At the moment he doesn't look to be a £750k striker but if he can hit another purple patch in the run in it will have been worth it.
What does a £750k striker look like ?

Very true I remember back in the the Jimmy Hills days Bobby Gould who’s 25 goals spurred us on to promotion was never a popular player here, in fact I’m sure I remember him receiving hate mail he would only be a kid at the time.Just the way the game is though - some players are more popular
our midfield should be passing the ball to his feet so that he can give the defence a torrid time of it! he is not a header of the ball.Doesn’t suit lone role for me,past 3 games seen him dominated by opponents defences we need more,Max people have their differences on etc but for me he can finish but also head the ball & hold it up well defo think max starts Tuesday night,if we are gonna challenge auto we need a striker who is scoring regular and is able to hold that ball up bring others into play,hence why a few of us were banging on all January about drafting in another option up front.
If Bakayoko performed how Godden has past few games this place would be in up raw but 2 back to back hat tricks keeps the wolves at bay for now.

People would argue that Chaplin is worth the £1m fee for what hes done since leaving us, but for us he wasnt even worth the £500k we paid.
The problem with Godden I think is that hes very isolated in the formation we play. I still want to see him in a front 2 pairing with Max before I write him off completely, but if were playing 1 up to then surely it has to be Max as he offers more than just runs? He can hold the ball up better and bring in midfielders running in. Something that Godden doesnt offer really. Although formation and tactics we play doesnt excuse him from being offside constantly. If Hiwula or Baka were getting his game time with lack of goals, the pitch forks would of been out on here a long time ago!! How long is he going to live off of the back of 2 back to back hat tricks?

I've noticed that when he's playing well people refer to him as Matty but when he's struggling it's simply Godden.

Id say biamous touch is much better.Max is more of a nuisance but for the most part he struggles to control a ball and rarely makes runs. He is your more typical target man granted but maybe MR likes Godden because he opens up the space for the (very skilled) midfielders to come forward and trouble the keeper.
No doubt Godden would likely flourish and score more with Max beside him in a two but keep in mind the pressure the loss of another body in midfield puts on the rest of the team. See Ipswich at home first half in the cup. We were steamrolled with two up top.

Been saying it every pre match since Max scored 2 vs Rovers. He should be starting ahead of Godden.

Yes he missed one sitter yesterday and one id say which wasnt a sitter. But made up for it with what should have been brilliant winner!
