It's not a Coventry issue. Concession prices are becoming less of a thing in many areas of the hospitality/entertainment industry. Many theme parks don't give cheap tickets to kids under a certain height anymore.

Tbf the 3/4 year deals are good business sense as they're assets on the balance sheet and makes the club more valuable over the longer term if he does want to sell. In fairness to him, that's one thing he's very good at along with negotiation it seems.

The only thing I'd say is that lots of noise are generally from those who have an agenda or don't go anyway. In this case though I do believe he's got it wrong.

I don't get the comparison with concert tickets. That's something you do occasionally, football is weekly for most. Yes some folk watch more bands, but not top expensive bands every week. There is no justification.

Fill the ground, the atmosphere is so much better when the away end sells out too. They'll spend the missing revenue on pints, pies and programmes.

I'm a season ticket holder, I go to way more gigs in a year than I do football matches. Just looked at some of the tickets I've got for upcoming things. Being charged £35 to £40 for the small room at the Institute that holds a couple of hundred people!

As I said there's two arguments you can make. From Kings side the argument will be that ticket prices over the last few years have not reflected the demand and have not increased inline with other events. The counter argument is that the cost of football tickets should be supressed but I think to get King to do one of his famed u-turns you're going to need to add more to the argument than simply saying you don't like it. The encouraging kids argument would be countered with the club saying there are cheaper tickets available in the family zone.

Not saying I agree with the prices but I can definitely see the argument King will make for it.

It is not feasible for some people, and season tickets are not allowed to be shared. They can get fucked.

100% we sell out the Birmingham game. And that's part of the problem.

Ultimately if there's a ton of empty seats at the first few games the rest of the season will be at the lower categories. However if there's a mad scramble for tickets and sold out game we will see more games at the higher categories.

Having 5 different categories across 3 different zones gives them flexibility to react to sales.

We're talking the top A and A+ prices. We'll get a decent gate against Hull, but as soon as the first cat a+ game comes around people will swerve it and I hope they do. £36 for kids for a 12.30 televised game against blues early in the season is not the draw you think it is.

Just had a Quick Look at Birmingham and Sheffield Utd websites for comparison… only a Quick Look mind - needs more analysis across the board.
but for ‘cat B’ games I think the adult prices are roughly comparable?

but yeah quite a hike for the kids and ‘premium’ zones…. . And the more ‘prestigious’ games….

You're in a very fortunate position that you are able to afford both and I'd certainly put you down as the exception rather than the norm. Even for those who would like to do both, I imagine it's a choice they have to make and being selective. Football can still win if the perceived entertainment value on the pitch matches.

If we strengthen the first XI and have squad depth, I can see the argument, but asking for £35 for a kid to watch a game of second tier football is grim whatever happens.
