Yes, I didn't say it had sold out of available tickets though. Probably should read the posts I was referencing before commenting.

Which is why it while they are trying to run fan zones etc and push the east stand outside bars it isn't likely to go back to 6.20

I'd be very impressed if he doesn't return to those prices.

I'd equally be surprised. As Evo said, it's strange that he's so keen to charge the highest prices in the division for tickets but will just about break even/make a loss on every pint sold.

Depends on lots of factors.

Either way, he's certainly not maximising profits like he's trying with tickets! And it certainly debunks the idea that we shouldn't complain about ticket prices if we want a good team!

The goal isn’t to sell out.

It’s to maximise income

Given that people are turning up earlier and drinking more (they have run out of lager in the bars by the corner at half time) have you seen the figures to back up what you say? Also no one has said "shouldn't complain about ticket prices if we want a good team" stop making shit up. All people have said is at the game against brum well probably sold enough 45 quid tickets to make it financially worth while for te club.

I don’t disagree.

However the club are using traditional supply and demand to calculate ticket prices.
What do you suggest they use instead?

There's multiple posts in this thread saying things about needing to find a way to compete at the top.

Ultimately, most think it's too expensive but we can all point to the financial positives of it. Doug knows what he's doing and it's paying off.

I hope the £3.60 pints continue

Good job others don't do the same, or we'd be paying £45 at every away ground!

What do you think a maximum ticket price should be and why?

Well my point was that we never sold it out , because BSB mentioned if we sell all the tickets we can charge what we like (from a business perspective )

45-60 is too expensive , we can be weirdly obnoxious to eachother all day but that will still be the case

To be clear, I think those prices are far too much for second tier football. My point was simply the club will have estimated how many tickets they'll sell at those higher prices and from a purely financial perspective it makes sense.

Some have parachute payments, others are charging prices comparable with others in the division.

Pompey sell out every week and know we would sell out at their place. They didn't charge us £45 even though they could have.

But there has to be a calculation.

When selling anything a business doesn’t just pluck a figure out of the air.

Most agree £45 is too much, so what should it be any why?

Understood but why are we the only ones charging that?

Plenty clubs in this division are selling out and not charging those prices.

Because King wants to make as much money as possible from all the revenue streams the club's got.

Without putting too fine a point on it, they're thinking more ethically than we are.

Or they are aware if they kept charging those prices, people would walk away when the performances don't match the price?

They did, there are one or two clubs who have tried it.

And, with respect to Leeds, the reciprocal deals led to their away fans often paying very low prices.

If that happened the club would drop them I guess. But right now the club's a hot ticket, they'll sell more than enough at that price.

Our ticket revenue is almost certainly currently at the highest level in our history.

Our wage bill is one of the lowest in the division

We have a modern ground for which we receive all of the income.

Yet we’re still making a loss. Why? Because the game has been completely distorted by the mega rich owners of other clubs. There is nothing we as a club can do about that.

Without maximising income, our only options are to borrow unsustainable amounts of money, or to slash the playing budget.

That is literally the only choice

Prices obviously set before the season, and we’re doing well.

Wonder how these prices would’ve worked out if we got off to a proper stinker…

Maybe so. Although Doug mentioned he could rethink ticket prices when the new TV deal came in. He didn't.

Ultimately he's a businessman who'll be looking to maximise whatever return he'll get from the club. I maintain that I don't see him here for the long term, he's turning the club into a very attractive package he can sell for a big sum.

High ticket prices make sense from his point of view.
